“Since you're in the neighborhood, pop in!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

The church itself isn't a "destination" but, since Recoleta Cemetery is, it's worth a pop-in since you'll be in the neighborhood. Inside is not exactly memorable but the history is substantial for those interested in that sort of thing. The location is great as the outdoor market/craft stalls are right there and so is the entrance to the cemetery. Worth the quick look.

“Nice place to stop on the way to the Cementerio de la Recoleta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012

Really nice place for a picture, specially in the park in front of it The church is really nice inside, but don't expect it to be magnificent. It is a must stop between the cementery and the UBA Law School. It is also situated in Recoleta and very near it, there is an old argentinean cafe called La Biela where you can enjoy a coffee

“Historical place.”

The church is located next to the famous Recoleta Cementry. It is beautifuly decorated and you can also visit the tunnels underneath it, where the monks used to live. Guided tour suggested if possible.

“Fairly standard church”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2012

Unless you're very interested in churches there's nothing particularly special about this one. It's definitely got some interesting character inside and if you're around you might as well check it out, but nothing to plan a trip around.

“Worth a quick look”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

Right next door to Recoleta this church dates back to 1715 and is a simple layout. We did look out for the baroque style alters that are mentioned in the guide books. Often used for the weddings & funerals of the wealthy Argentinians. As you walk round you are accompanied by the sounds of recorded Gregorian chant music. Above the church and for a small cost we went up into the cloisters which have been opened to the public on 3 levels. Therein contained paintings, relics and wooden figures. OK for a quick look but not very interesting. What was great was the view of Recoleta cemetery from the cloister windows. Different to see it from a high angle.
