“Lives up to LHW standards”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

I have been a member of the Leader's Club since the club's inception. This hotel met or exceeded all expectations that I have for a LHW property. The bellman were prompt and courteous. The front desk greeted us warmly and efficiently. The bellman took us to our room and gave us a thorough review of the room's workings. The room was modern, well appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was likewise modern, spotless and intelligently designed.

Breakfast was good, although not extraordinary. The variety of foods was good and everything from baked goods to fruits was fresh and attractively displayed. Coffee and juice were refilled without needing to ask.

The restaurant, Contraluz, was a pleasant surprise. My fish and my wife's duck were well prepared and very attractively plated. Our waitress was professional and at the same time very friendly and engaging.

The lobby bar offered a nice variety of food and drink. The hamburger made from ground rib eye was excellent. However, service could have been a little more attentive, especially since the bar was not crowded.

Overall, the Alvear Art is an excellent,, modern hotel, well worth the cost. I would not hesitate to stay here again on a subsequent visit to Buenos Aires.

Just a super experience, especially after a so-called 5 star hotel in Rio that wasn't remotely 5 star. But this one is the real McCoy.

Stunning lobby, beautifully designed and spacious rooms, quality towels and linens, attentive service from a great concierge. Very pleasurable experience and one I'd recommend to anyone.

We just finished a nine nights stay at the Alvear Art and were absolutely delighted by the beautiful hotel. Location is ideal for holiday travellers but also for business as it is near (but thankfully not in) dusty Microcentro. This was my tenth visit to Buenos Aires and compared to other five star hotels this one has the most Argentine atmosphere with local artwork. Expect more classic modern elegance than a quirky boutique hotel decor. The rooms do not have as much wow factor as the gorgeous lobby but there is nothing to irritate you either. High quality materials and perfect functionality, peace and quiet. The overall look is rather masculine which suited this male reviewer just fine, but the ladies of the family would have appreciated fresh flowers in the public spaces. Individual temperature control in the rooms was very good despite of record-breaking +38C heat. My only disappointment was a detail in the TV channel selection: no channels with modern latin music, only one peculiar channel called Solo Tango with poor picture quality. Music is, after all, for many people the reason to travel to Argentina. The Suipacha street has just been nicely renovated and there is a splendid design shop called Autoria just opposite and a Carrefour Express on Arenales street.

There are many comments on Tripadvisor about the breakfast but after my 40 years of luxury travel experience I do not understand what exactly would be missing there. Perhaps potato dishes? This hotel is good for people with reduced mobility and allergics will be glad to hear that interiors are not scented as they are in most other BA hotels. The 17th floor swimming pool with river views offers a quite unique experience. In my opinion there is still room for more art in the hotel; perhaps a modern sculpture in the lobby?

The staff is wonderful. The doormen, receptionists, restaurant staff and chambermaids are all cordial, attentive and resourceful professionals. I guess that with the prestige of the Alvear name they had their choice of top applicants.

This is a new hotel and their legends are yet unwritten but I predict this will be a wildly popular establishment!

The Hotel is very modern, just opened in 2013. The rooms are very nice overlooking the city if you choose the top floor, loved the bathroom quite big calm colors. Great view for swimming pool and gym at the top floor. Very friendly and attentive staff

What I didn’t like is that you have a Nespresso machine in room and you have to pay for the coffee and the Breakfast is not up to the standard of a Leading Hotel of The World category.

Room Tip: choose upper floors for the view

Dear guest,

Thank you so much for your kind comments about our hotel and staff.

However, we have noted your comment about our Nespresso machine in our rooms. We offer two complimentary capsules per stay. Regarding our breakfast, we already included more options thanks to your comment.

We hope to have you as our guest in your next visit to Buenos Aires.

We are frequent and demanding travelers. The quality of the hotels, of the rooms and of the services are important for us and we always are disappointed in expensive hotels.
Alvear Art makes the difference. Staff is efficient and friendly, rooms are immaculate (the hotel is new), design is great, pool and fitness are excellent (as well as the trainer), and the location is perfect at the center of B.A.
If there is a downside, the breakfast choices could be improved.
We have traveled in most of the Latin America countries and considering its reasonable price, Alvear Art hotel really is one of , if not, the best hotel we got on this continent.

Room Tip: Upper floors for the view

Recently opened hotel with modern design. All the equipment of the room and bathroom is new, the room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. Very nice pool on the top floor. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The hotel is well located: within easy walk to main sightseeing places. Breakfast was the only disadvantage since it was too poor for 5*
