“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

We arrived at 8:30 AM on Jan. 4 after 3 weeks in South America. We were immediately checked in at the correct rate and shown to our room. Unfortunately we were taken to a Deluxe Suite when we had booked and confirmed a Deluxe Grand Suite on Aug. 8. We went back to the desk and were told that our confirmed room was not available but on Dec. 28 an email was sent confirming our room and rate. They finally agreed to change the rate but we were stuck with the Deluxe suite. There was no hot water and we reported it. Six hours later we reported it again. That night a storm came and the window started banging. At 11PM maintenance finished the installation of the latch. The next morning still no hot water, by 4PM there was warm water. There was a lot of water on the floor from the shower and winthin 4 hours more water appeared. There was a lot of street noise.
There was no Kleenex type product in the room. When we called to ask the desk they offered to have someone go buy some for us.
The staff was wonderful. They could not have been nicer or tried harder. The breakfast was great.

What a little gem of a find - this is a fabulous boutique style hotel.

The location is great too - there are lot of bars/restaurants in the area to choose from. And, a couple of blocks away - we found a square with people demonstrating the wonderful tango!

Our first impressions were great - we were received by 'Lucas' who was friendly and spoke great English. Another couple were checking in, so we had to wait a few minutes during which time we were offered a complimentary glass of champagne - a very nice touch.

The hotel has only just opened, so we were fortunate to be upgraded to a room on the 9th floor, which contained everything and in fact more than we needed. From the finishes through to the bathroom toiletries - everything is to a very high standard.

The dining room is spacious and comfortable and the breakfast choice was very good.

It is a new hotel, so there were a few very minor teething problems which you would expect when refining the hotel services. But, when we mentioned the small issues we had - they were dealt with in a friendly and prompt manner - nothing was too much trouble.

The only 'problem' I think they will have is with the rooftop pool area. It is a very nice area, but space is limited. There were only a few sun-loungers and they are going to invest in more - but there is only a limited amount of space, so I suspect that this may cause disappointment to some guests who aren't early risers! Also the current parasols are very large, so they may need to consider smaller ones.

But, we had a lovely time there and would not hesitate in going back, nor recommending the hotel to others - hopefully they will sustain their quality.

So overall, great place - great location - great staff - great service and a great first-time experience of Beunos Aires!

Room Tip: Ask for the 9th floor - it's closer to the pool!

New hotel in the best location in BA! Service was amazing, staff was so warm and helpful. Truly the best staff I have seen. English spoken by everyone I encountered on the staff. Great ideas and tips offered by the staff. Experienced hotel owner often onsite overseeing business. Hotel owner was very gracious. Great spa services on site, pool and workout room. I recommend this hotel without hesitation and would only consider staying at this property n my next trip to BA.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back face a courtyard.

We stayed there just weeks after it opened! I would give the service a 5 star - the staff at the front desk was outstanding! The rooms were great, although each of us jammed our finger in the bathroom sliding door, and the hotel is new - so it was working through the newness. I would recommend it highly, actually already did!!!!!

Bs. As grand hotel is part of a local chain. This is a new property that just opened.
The location is the best in town surrended of the most luxurious hotels, shops & restaurants.
The hotel Style is very modern & contemporany , lot of brown / black & white color deco, i would said this hotel looks very Armani's style.
The service is very nice a good combination of formal & friendly style.
I had lunch on my last day, tried the empanadas & a Lemon chicken with cream rice in the side.... Very very good ( simple but great taste)/ service in restaurant very professional too.
Room price excellent vs product quality.
The spa looked poor in my opinion... ( not Bad just poor) swimming pool Was not opened yet.

Room Tip: Ask for meet empanadas in club 51 Very nice rooms facing las eras avenue

In fairness I was at the Grand free of charge due to a flight issue. This hotel has pretty nice rooms (not as nice as the hotel we choose ourselves for all of the other days we spent in Argentina) but they aren't anything too special for the listed price.

What has warranted only 2 star is the awful food. Seriously this is by far the worst place I have eaten since arriving in the country. The food is comparable to a holiday inn, not a high quality hotel. Before our meal we were given a cheese ball which tasted like a sub standard Iceland party snack. Next a salad that had no flavour, sad leaves and fish sticks. Then pork (fatty, not cooked for long enough) and mash with huge lumps in it. Followed by desert that tasted like it came out of a can.

Through work I stay in hotels all over the world and this just strikes me as another chain type place that you would be gutted if you spent you're own money on because in my experience these places sell cheap to corporates and group discounts. Solo travellers look elsewhere

PS: the staff are very courteous and helpful (but they have been everywhere in Argentina)

A great hotel in downtown Buenos Aires. Comfortable and clean rooms with excellent service and food. Front desk very helpful and quietly efficient. Reasonably priced and good value for money. I will stay there again and would recommend. One downside...when they have a conference on the delegates all wander back and forth through the dining area when you are trying to have a quiet dinner.

Room Tip: Make sure you have the address printed out for taxi drivers. This is a new hotel and sometimes the t...
