The zoo has some gorgeous old buildings in varying states of dis-repair. The zoo animals appear to be well cared for, but the place is a bit of a shambles. We went on a weekday and it was quite busy. I understand weekends are very crowded.

Just a wonderful zoo. What is so great is that it is right in the middle of the City close to many other sites so you can easily incorporate into a day. The zoo is lovely, small and the animals are close. There is also a petting zoo and a number of little animals that just wander around. We were quite enchanted. So fun.

This is, by far, the worst zoo that I have ever been visited. I was just there around Christmas and there was a heat wave. There wasn't sufficient shade for the animals, many were missing, and I later found out that the polar bear died. There were deer/rabbit animals running around lose and lots of birds out of cages too. I really wonder how many die when they run into traffic as the zoo is right in the heart of Palermo. I wish I could figure out how to help these animals and get this place shut down.

The capuchin monkeys at Bueonis Aries zoo really sum up the situation - one group of them are housed in a nice enclosure on an island with plenty of space whilst two others are in a tiny enclosure that is many years old and in need of maintenance or simply pulling down. A new Hippo pool is being built and there are clearly other areas that have been modernised and improved but there is a lot still to do. The llama paddock had about 20 animals in it which is about 15 too many - other paddocks also seemed overcrowded by UK standards. On the plus side the grounds with towering trees and gardens are nicely laid out and it's a great setting in the middle of this busy and bustling city.

The zoo isolated right off Santa Fe bear plaza Italia. Entry fee was not very expensive. We enjoyed this zoo. Lots of different animals such as the carpincho and other South American animals. We bought food to feed the animals. Great little side track to an otherwise very busy city.
