I'm not exactly sure what went on at the ticket booth at the Japanese Gardens, but I didn't get in! The lady in the ticket booth said something to me in Spanish that I didn't understand and beckoned me to stand to one side. I thought maybe she didn't have change for my 100 peso note and so waited a bit, but with the number of people buying tickets before and after me, it couldn't have been the case and so I wandered off very confused. Later on, I told a few locals about the scenario and none of them could explain what it was about. Anyway, I'm sure the gardens are very nice - if you are allowed in!

Well, everything looks neat and nice. But it's far from a genuine Japanese garden. Don't go here if you don't have lots of time over, or never have been to any Japanese gardens in your life and you know for sure that you'll never go to Japan. Otherwise, spend your time somewhere else, or go to Kyoto :)

Enjoyed a walk around this well maintained garden ...and the chance to get some fresh air after the diesel bus fumes in the city centre

you can almost forget there's a busy city with wide boulevards congested with traffic outside. avoid the overly expensive restaurant and then make your way to the rose garden nearby.

The garden is OK but I don't think it was worth the visit. There are much better gardens all over the world. The place is kept clean but it is fairly small and doesn't have any memorable attractions. It is also a bit out of the city center.
