“The Estoril”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the Estoril hostel, which is almost smack dab in the missle of the avenue. A great location to stay due to its close proximity of so many different reatauranta and ease to the subway. The national congress building is just down the street along with the oldest cafe one block in the opposite direction.

“European-style Buildings, Restaurants, Music/Dance Festivities, and Peaceful Demonstrations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

What more could you get from an avenue that offers all the above and more. There are many nice budget hotels of which I stayed at one. There are lots of restaurants (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and even a McDonalds for the kids and a Subway sandwich shop for a quick bite.

My first night, heard a commotion outside my balcony and there was a peaceful demonstration (city-wide as well), the next night the Boy and Girl Scouts marched down the avenue after a rally at the BA Metropolitan Cathedral, and on the third day there was a variety of free Syrian music, food and handcrafts for sale, and even some tango dancing was thrown in gratis (most of the avenue was closed to vehicles). I think this was one of the many Sunday festivals sponsored by the city of Buenos Aires government - thanks BA.

Wow, what a great place to hang out during the day and at night.

“Strollin'”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Beautiful Avenida to walk all the way from Plaza the Mayo, across Av 9 de Julio to the end at the National Congress.
Check out the beautiful architecture and green spaces during the day. At night you can choose from many bars and restaurants with outdoor terraces. Just sit back, relax and watch everything that comes by.

“Beautiful boulevard that recalls the greatness and pride of old Buenos Aires”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

Not a ton to say here- this is beautiful tree lined street that connects the old palace with the congress building. It's worth a stroll from end to end. It has lots of classic French architecture that was erected when the city celebrated Argentina's centennial in the late 19th century. You really feel like you're walking around Paris on a spring day. You'll often see protests and gatherings as these are popular community congregation sites. Great area to bum around for half a day or so.
