Owner description: In the neighbourhood of San Telmo it is located the most classic house of tango of all times, El Viejo Almacén. It offers shows since 1969 and preserves the architecture and atmosphere of tango culture. The house has a unique magic in which the cultural barrier between different nationalities ceases to exist and we all joined by one of the greatest expressions of any culture: the language of music. It has a proposal of Dinner & Show, with a menu of international cuisine a la carte and an extensive wine cellar with the best national wines. Then, any member of the public is delighted with an excellent show of tango composed by prestigious dancers, the famous Quintet of El Viejo Almacén and two highly recognized national singers, who play some of the traditional songs of tango´s history. The most acclaimed tango show in the world accompanied by fine cuisine, recalls the bygone era of tango and takes us back to times of outlaws and suburbs in the ground where tango has its roots ... Buenos Aires.

This deal included a dinner and a tango show. It was booked for us by Planet Cruise as part of a brilliant package so I can't comment on the value as I don't know the price. The meal was good and well served - beef of course - with as much wine as you wanted included. We then transferred to the delightfully atmospheric tango venue across the road. To my surprise the drinks were also all included here and there was no difficulty in keeping them coming. The tango show was brilliant. The band were excellent, dancers and choreography skilful, passionate and exciting and the traditional folk music section was just as good. Provided the price isn't too outrageous this is a must do when you visit Buenos Aires.

Like all of the other tango shows, just buy the show ticket, not the dinner/show package. You save money and will be able to use it on a dinner that's actually good.

I took my parents here when they visited. We were greeted with a bottle of champagne, they took our photos, and the show was professional and fun.

The show
If you are looking to experience an amazing tango, this is a great place. Small dance podium, but they manage to put 4 couples and the whole orchestra on it. Singers are also very good and entertaining. You are very close to the stage, so there probably isn't a bad spot in the house. We were on the side, and there was a pillar on the way, but didn't obstruct the view that much. They bring you drinks while you are watching, but unless you ask them for something else, they will keep bringing you champagne.

We signed up for dinner and the show. They pick you up at the hotel which makes it really easy and convenient. The guy came little early to get us, but there was no problem to wait for our friends to get ready. Once they drop you off, you go to dinner in the separate building from tango show (which nobody will tell you). You just follow herd of people, and they seat you. The food is below average for Buenos Aires, so I strongly recommend eating somewhere else, especially since they will pick you and drop you off regardless if you had dinner package.

They are organized to a perfection from pick-up to drop-off. Nobody really tells you anything and what the next step is, but if you just follow people, you will end up figuring out what is going on and where you need to go. It is a fairly small place, but they pack it up, so you may be in line with a lot of tourists before you get in. This is a tiny turn-off, because you realize you are just one of the million tourists who are attending the show :)

But remember...it is a tango show, and the tango was amazing!!!

Had a wonderful evening. I now love watching the tango even more. We saw two Tango shows in Buenos Aires and this was longer and on a larger stage (the other stage was tiny). The cost included the travel by taxi to and from our apartment and drinks, we chose champagne. The act was polished and wonderful and fast moving, it lasted about two hours. A wee bit expensive but an experience we would not want to miss. A wonderful small and quirky location with excellent staff, our glasses were never empty. The place is very cozy and I expect all seats at some time have a slightly restricted view but as the act is fast moving and covers the whole stage we did not have any complaints.

They have a restaurant across the street if you want to eat close by before the show.

Very good tango spot! Cool venue and I appreciated that all seats seemed to have a great view of the stage. It was much more intimate than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. Solid performance although I must say the dancers' attire was a little trashy vs authentic. Not sure I needed to see as much butt cheek especially for such talented ladies. I'd definitely recommend the show but don't do the dinner beforehand. Plenty of better meals to be had elsewhere before the show.
