“Beautiful City of Souls”

Incredible place, wide alleys with tombs and mausoleums the size of small churches, competing in architectural and artistic beauty, beautifully landscaped and full of friendly resident cats.

“Wonderful Neighborhood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

Wonderful area to stay for a few days when visiting BA. It is and up scale and safe area to walk,
shop, eat and simply enjoy the architecture of the grand buildings. It is centrally located and easy
to get a taxi from. One can visit the cemetery, shop at small boutique shops or at the Mall at Patio
Bullrich or weekend market on Sat & Sunday, sample ice-cream, or dine at
some of the best Italian restaurants in BA. Piegari is located across from the Four Seasons in
the Recova Area & our favorite, La Pecora Nera is on Ayacuyo.
Best time to visit is in spring, the month of November if you love flowers. The jacaranda trees are
in full bloom and the city looks like one giant flower arrangement. It takes 20 min. to walk from the
Cemetery to the Palermo Parks if you are a runner or walker.

“The Rich are Rich even in Death”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

A must see if you are interested in mausoleum architecture and you want to see where Evita is buried ..The Evita mausoleum is hard to find as she is buried with her father's family ..after being moved around several times this is her final resting place and is a real disappointment. Follow a line of people going through the cemetery and they are usually heading that way or just say "Evita?" to one of the workers and they will walk you there (show them a tip for service) . The rich and famous of Argentina are buried here in massive edifices that resemble small houses in size . Who says that you cannot take it with you ??

“Upscale area of Buenos Aires with Famous Cemetery and Cultural Center”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2013

The Recoleta cemetery is mentioned in all Buenos Aires guidebooks. It is interesting to walk around these elaborate, aristocratic family tombs with statues, cerubs, etc. and to visit the tomb of Evita Peron. Besides Evita, many of those buried here are not familiar names to non-Argentinians.

During my visit, the Recoleta Cultural Center, an impressive rose-colored old mansion, hosted several of the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival concerts in an outdoor setting. The Center is active year-round and a great place to enjoy and find out more about the local music and arts scene.
