Quite a nice surprise this Museum. It is not that big but they have a nice collection of paintings and sculptures

Highly recommend a visit - there is a good sampling of a broad spectrum of art and a very impressive collection of national argentine artists - a group I did not appreciate until I got there

The museum is interesting though not that well sign posted on the street. Its entrance is the other side of the building from the busy road (Liberdar) and it is free for all - wonderful. The pictures and sculptures are good with stronger representation of Europe than the Americas I found. Some excellent local art and an interesting array of modern pieces though the Misterio Exhibition was a bit mystifying in all senses. Liked the paintings of Portenos and places though not a great deal of native work (go to MALBA for this) and there are only two floors so you can do the whole thing in an hour or two. Serious deficiency I thought was the lack of a café or even water on a very hot day. The gift counter also limited. Surely postcards of the key exhibits would sell well? Security presence very good - lots of attenders though very few have anything except basic polite Spanish. Worth a look especially on a cool afternoon, if you can find one!

The best place to get to know Argentine painting flourishing at the end of 19th, beginning of 20th century. Also a nice collection of masterpieces of Italian and Spanish painting and sculpture.
