Owner description: There’s no fee to enter this fine museum housing significant works of the European masters from pre-Renaissance days to the present and a vast collection of 19th- and 20th-century Argentine sculptures and paintings.

The art collection of Alfredo and Lisa Hirsch, is mostly Italian art from the renaissance period and alone is worth the visit.

The collection here is not large, but of generally high quality. You will encounter some familiar artists, but also discover a few ones you may never have heard of before,

Nevertheless its a public museum its amazing.

If you are latinamerican as me you will know what we mean when we say for a museum that it is 'public'.

This means mosty: bad administration, horrible execution and employees in bad mood and apatic.

In spite of those (which are true here, will notice some if you observe) the museum is great.

It's completly comparable to main museums in the world such as Prado, Louvre, Altes (Berlin), Old Masters Gallery (Dresden). Only by its collection, not by its services.

Very recomendable.

This is a decent museum. Probably more of a 3.5. It is free which is great. If it wasn't, I'd give it a three. It actually can be hard to find the entrance. If you are on the side near the University of Buenos Aires, you need to walk all the way around to the other side.

I felt Bellas Artes is worth coming to if you are pairing it with something else...like going to MALBA down the street (about a 20 minute walk) which is a better museum from my perspective.

I don't get the opportunity to experience international art very often so was looking forward to the Rembrandts, Monet, Corot and Manet . the art didn't disappoint me. The Argentinian collection was very interesting. My main issue was the frustration with the museum itself. There were no maps, visitor guides or guided tours. We thought we might've come through a back entrance as no signage or assistance from the staff we asked. The only time we got any response from the staff was when my husband leaned to close to an artwork. I still recommend going but hope others experience isn't as frustrating and confusing.
