“Plaza de Mayor, it's all about the history for the visitor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Plaza de Mayor is the central area for a lot of the history of Argentina and worth seeing. Visit it with a tour guide or a good tour book as there is plenty of interesting history associated with this Plaza and the buildings around it. The Cathedral on the plaza is the former church of the new Pope Francis I and worth a visit.

“la Casa Rosado stands before it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

A fantastic area to visit where palace guards strut around in their vivid blue uniforms like peacocks and the pink palace is lit up in strange pink lights at night.A place which commemorates Argentinas independance from Spain in May 1810.

“Two sides to Buenos Aires.”

Pleasant open area, surrounded by busy traffic.Scene of regular demonstrations. Casa Rosada and Cathedral look onto the area. Between cathedral and National Bank, families live under cardboard and curtains. Quite disturbing to see.

“A must spot in BA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

If you are in BA then you definitely have to go to Plaza de Mayo. There is much history and beautiful architecture surrounding this plaza. We visited three times during our stay in BA as it was very central to everything.

“Nice starting point for exploration”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

If you want to explore the city, what better place then to start in the heart of downtown at Plaza de Mayo? From here you can tour the Casa Rosada (weekends only) and go into the Metropolitan Cathedral or head up Defensa to San Telmo or down past the office buildings to Florida Street. Another nice walk is down Avenida de Mayo towards Plaza de Congreso. Along the way you'll pass by worthwhile tourist attractions like Cafe Tortoni (tango!) and Palacio Barolo (Dante's inferno).
