Alvear Palace Hotel

My friends and I stayed at Alvear Palace for 4 nights and it was the highlight of our trip. The hotel is amazing and the service is second to none. We stayed in a Junior Suite and it was worth every dollar. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Room service was spot-on with anything we needed. We had dinner one if the nights at L'Orangerie and the cuisine and service was five star. The Lobby Bar was also very nice and filled with beautiful and fun people every night.. If I am lucky enough to return to Buenos Aires, I will stay here again.

This hotel has very much the feel of a Ritz - as in the Paris or London variety. The lobby is more bustling and chaotic than those, but the rooms are plush and richly opulent yet still beautifully maintained and even the Paris Ritz doesn't have this good a breakfast buffet. Location is superb for access to Recoleta shopping as well as the parks and museums and a good jogging route. Service is of top quality with staff trying very hard to accommodate all needs and wishes. Nice little fitness area (machines, some free weight dumbells, techno-gym stands) and nice wet and dry saunas. Didn't have time to try the indoor pool. Food quality overall was excellent. If you want very contemporary and minimalist decor, you might want to look elsewhere but if you want the old world Ritz type experience (at less than half the price if you're thinking in American dollars), this is the place.

We stayed here for the last night of our trip (having stayed at Legado Mitico, Posada Puerto Bemberg, Eolo, Puemu Hue, Cavas Wine Lodge).

This was probably the biggest disappointment. The hotel is nice but not as special as we had hoped for. We had stayed at the Legado Mitico for our first stint in BA and, whilst the Alvear is a lot grander, we preferred the Legado Mitico (particularly with regard to its location and the service).

If we went top end again in BA we may go with the Park Hyatt (which served the most unbelievable Sunday brunch) or the Faena (which we visited for an amazing tango show).

Good but not great.

Service was on par with the usual luxury chains but much more personalized than a Four Seasons, etc. Generous with upgrades; 4 pm checkout etc. and an extremely nice hotel all around. Would recommend over any other in BA.

Known as the Grand Dame of Buenos Aires hotels, The Alvear Palace Hotel lives up to its reputation in every respect.

From its historic architecture, grand L'Orangerie dining room where breakfast is served, impeccable level of service, and little extras such as Hermes toiletries and fresh roses.

We booked a Premier Suite Palace Room - and received a free upgrade to a Junior Suite through our Leading Hotels of the World membership. (This is a free online membership, which I highly recommend).

The Suite was gorgeous and very roomy. Turn down service included not not chocolates but macarons! The bathroom's huge bath is definitely worth a soak, with water jets.

The hotel is located in the upmarket Recoleta area - on par with Saint Germain Des Pres, in Paris. Most the restaurant we dined at were not in this area but a short cab ride away (cabs are very inexpensive in BA). We loved Cabana Las Lilas and La Brigada - both wonderful steak restaurants (but of course!).

The Alvear is expensive but we were happy to pay for this level of 5 star service. Do yourself a favour and spoil yourself!

To stay at Alvear is always a pleasant experience. The hotel is considered the most traditional in BA.The breakfast is great with a miriad of options to choose, for every taste. The staff is very helpful specially the Concierges and the front desk.Well located,is a few minutes by taxi from the main attractions.
Talk about Alvear is always in superlative for its rooms and the smallest details observed by the staff
