“Amazing Experience!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Outstanding restaurant in Recoleta neighbourhood, in a lovely boutique hotel.

Service was wonderful. They took the time to explain the menu. I have some meals at michelin rated restaurants and service here was at the top level.

I had an eight steps dinner: my favourite were:

Sea and Country: lovely sweetbreads with shrimps

The Calamari pasta! This was extreme enjoyable and an amazing discover.

The Cochinillo: amazing roast suckling pig on oyster juice.

And "Por una cabeza", the dessert recreation of a Carlos Gardel famous tango.

Each course was clever, unique and very tasty. Everything was cooked to perfection.

The room was beautiful. If you like haute cuisine this is the place you have to go in Buenos Aires.

“Beautiful Venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

This is a very attractive and comfortable restaurant (although a bit difficult to locate on the street). The decor is imaginative and the tables are well-spaced. The food was well prepared and the portions are on the smaller side as opposed to gargantuan plates of meat and sides that are presented at many other Argentine restaurants. The wait staff was attentive and congenial. Unfortunately, during the entire time we were there (8:30 - 10:00 PM), we were the only table so it felt a bit too quiet and remote. Prices are a bit high but not overly so for the quality of the room and the cuisine. I would return on another visit.

“Nice atmosphere, unique menu, excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

This restaurant is definitely unique from any other restaurant where we ate in Buenos Aires. When you arrive, you would not know you were there unless you knew the address. There is a doorman.
The restaurant is intimate and has a small, attractive bar. It only has about 20 tables but they are nicely spaced so you can have a quiet conversation. The servers are extremely well trained as they would be in an expensive New York restaurant. They know when to pour the wine and exactly how much. Although they are attentive, they are not bothersome and give you as much or as little time as you would like.
We had an 8 p.m. reservation and were the first in the restaurant. Others started to come in around 8:30. We were told that peak time was between 9:30 and 10 p.m.
As others have said, the sommelier was excellent. We decided on a very nice syrah. He was pleased that we wanted something other than a malbec, which most people order. He said that Argentina makes some very nice wine other than malbec and he wished more people would try it. His wife, who works at the Park Hyatt also is a sommelier. By the way, wines by the bottle start at $250 pesos and go up from there.
We were given a small “taste from the chef” which was served in a spoon. I’m still not sure what it was, but it had mango in it. We decided to share the steak tartare ($140 pesos). They split it for us. It was very nice. The meat was minced finer than I am used to. It was nicely spiced. He finishes it with a small dollop of ice cream on the top. As strange as it sounds, it was quite tasty. The only bread served with the tartare was the bread in the bread basket. I would have preferred something thinner.
My husband ordered the sweetbreads and chicken wings ($180 pesos) and I ordered the suckling pig ($290). My husband loves sweetbreads and he thought these were very good, however he would have liked to have more sweetbreads and fewer chicken wings (which were boned) The sauce was very interesting, the portion small. The suckling pig was excellent==very flavorable and tender. The skin was crispy which I love. Keep in mind that the meat is the meal. It is not served with salad or vegetables and the portions are filling, but quite small.
We decided not to have dessert. However, we had asked the sommelier for recommendations of wineries we should visit in Mendoza. He wrote out a list for us. Knowing of our interest in wine, he brought us two complimentary glasses of port that was very nice.
Our total bill with tip was $1020 pesos. Was it worth it? I would say yes. It was a unique meal in a lovely setting with great service.

“Rushed services”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

My husband and I went for our last lunch in BA before flying back home. We arrived at 1.30pm with the only other customer ready to leave so throughout our meal we pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves. We wanted to order the “sequence of cow menu” and the “tasting menu” each but was told that we could only order one menu for the table. This was a little disappointing as all other restaurants we went allowed us to order different set of menu each. Anyway, we ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing at the end.

We were not too impressed with the first 3 dishes. Then came the calamari pasta (pasta made only with calamari) – now, that was something original and we have never tried before. Also the suckling pork for main course – it was perfectly cooked with excellent lemon sauce. Both very delicious. However, we were a little disappointed with the choice of pairing wines – they were very nice wines on their own, but we didn’t think they complement the dishes too well.

The sommelier was very nice and shared with us his knowledge in Argentinian wines. However, he disappeared half-way through our meal, leaving us with a young waitress. The waitress kind of rushed us through our meal. She was very nice and polite, but it was almost like she couldn’t wait to take our plates. That wasn’t very pleasant. When we wish to order another main (our main course was pork, and we wanted to try their beef), we were told that the kitchen was closed. Maybe we were there too late, but they do take reservations up to 1.30. If they have problem with time, they should only take guests till 1pm to give proper service.

Overall, we were a little disappointed with our dining experience there.

“Modern Argentinian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

Excellent if limited menu. A very modern slant on traditional Argentinian dishes. Very varied wine list with some outstanding wines. Great ambiance and very good service. I will return.
