Description: Malvón is a porteño style restaurante but with contemporary flavor : meals, coffees, drinks, cakes and breads in a relaxed atmosphere with eclectic spaces and a modern Grandmother's garden . We bake every day, do not use preservatives or additives, all homemade to eat in our places or take it wherever you want. Our lunches include different noon menus, quiches and salads. The weekend we serve different brunch options reminding the typical small bistros in NY . Among them you can try: Popovers, chicken apple sausages , blackened salmon (Cajun style) and classics like eggs Benedicts . All come with bread, cornbread, peanut butter, butter and strawberry fruit syrup with caramelized black seed.

Waiting for my son , who was taking an exam nearby, I found this cozy place, decorated with a mix of old Buenos Aires bar and a new yorker sense of aesthetics, great muffins and juices!

Retro decoration, very good place with large servings. Average pricing. Near outlets, nice for a shopping break.

The brunch here was delicious and very large. I loved everything, from the eggs benedict main to the cocktail of the day, but the best surprise was the cornbread muffin with strawberry butter. When something so secondary is THIS good, it's a good sign. The place is also very homey with great decoration - the perfect spot to spend your morning.

I SO want Malvon to be good. I love the location, interior decor and most of the "to-go" baked goods are worth it (sweet foccacia - really?!). I feel Malvon's problem is typical to the many (if not most) places I have eaten in BA in the last year - they don't prepare food outside of the Porteño diet with any love or interest.
Sweets - check, the licuados/juices - check, egg torts - check, miga's disguised as other types of sandwiches wrapped in fancy bread - check.
Everything else lacks salt, spice, heat and/or interest in its creation. Yes, the plating is magazine quality and delivered in good time by generally interested staff (just don't sit in their prime pic-nic table in the back).
I would say pass on the curry chicken sandwich. It includes a yellow colored chicken breast, SUPER sweet tomato on soft bread, only thing missing, the flavor of curry. The Croque monsieur is far from crunchy (that is the croque part Malvon), the cheese is flavorless and the ham is thin and the bread, wait for it - sweet! This is a miga with an upgrade of bread.

The salad's are decent, the bagels are ok (sweet again) and loaded with salmon and the pitchers of booze are wonderful but if there is a wait for a table - move along and find disappointment and run of the mill some where else that looks cool.

On vacation and met a friend I've not seen in ages who was really missing American food ... we I checked out TA and "found" Malvon

Set in a quiet area of Palermo, it's a spacious townhouse with rear garden that is hopping midday on Sundays with yuppies, guppies, families the works. You enter past a kitchen with incredible baked goods on display ... we shared a small table in a back corner overlooking the garden

As usual, the Argentine menu tells EVERYTHING that is coming with your brunch, but for those of use less than fluent, it seems like its all on the plate together. so ... there's a lovely bread basket with 3 - 4 types of bread (ours had cheese crisp, walnut bread and 2 other types we did not get to) as well as 2 compound butters... when we ordered we also received a platter with 2 corn muffins ... and let me say these put the "south" in south America ... surprised this good ol' boy.

Entrees come with a beverage of the day ... sparkling wine mixed with juice ... but we both got different juices ..and neither of us could identify them, lol

We both opted for the eggs benedict (Huevos Benedictos) ... served i a large soup plate, the canadian bacon is replaced with mildly smoked pork loin, there is a tiny tiny amount of a thin hollandaise .. and 2 strips of American-style bacon .. oh, and there's also a side salad in the bowl! the smoked porkloin was incredible, the bacon was a nice touch and my friend felt homestyle comfort!

You should ask about the cocktail of the day ... it was a passion fruit mojito ... now that's brunch!
