MT SOHO Hostel

Stayed in many hostels throughout Latin America and this was by far my worst choice. I had read the bad reviews and chose it anyway due to its location which is the one and only thing that recommends it although it's still 5 blocks from the main road. Stayed in the double bunk dorm room right off the kitchen. Asked every day if there was a possibility of having the shared bathroom between the two dorm rooms unlocked so our side could use it too, and everyday denied. Had to use the disgusting bathroom used by staff and everyone using the kitchen. Always had to wait to use it, never clean, and if someone had taken a shower it was wet wall to wall.

The dorm room meant for four people was not much bigger than a closet. They did happen to get a wardrobe in there but for what purpose- it neither locked nor held much of anything. The mattresses are a piece of foam and the pillow looked as it had never been washed/replaced. The fan had so much dust/grime on it that it was black. All communal areas were old, worn out, dirty and right in the middle of the hostel so if people were up late talking, it kept up everyone in the hostel as that central area amplifies all noises.

Staff seemed to go out of their way to be rude. Internet was down and when I mentioned this to the desk person on duty, instead of a, "I realize the internet is out, I apologize for the inconvenience, we're working on it", I received a half scream of "It's not my fault! I can't fix it. There's nothing I can do about it!"

Breakfast is not worth mentioning. Decor was as if to say: oh look, we tried. I was prepared to look over some major faults of this place going in as it is the cheapest option in Palermo. But if you're going to bother at all with running a hostel: clean it, make it someplace you would stay and teach some hospitality 101 to your staff.

Good nice small hostel with really nice, friendly and helpfull staff!
The rooms were nice. We stayed in a double with shared bathroom and unfortunatly there was a problem with the gas heater... So with no hesitation we got "upgraded" to a better room. That was very nice indeed. The location in palermo is also perfect.
The prices are quite high, but that is just how it is in buenos aires and especially in palermo. And considering that it was actually cheaper than many other places.

Good place, good vibe, good people!
Thanks guys! I would come again.

lets start with the seamingly homemade bunk beds that were advertised as a twin room. The bed had slats so wide (this was not a standard bed, it looked and sounded like a rickety bunk bed you'd find in a council cleanup, then with the addition of a few slats)the 'mattress' fell through as you tried to sleep. This coupled with the 'mattress' not actually being a mattress, rather a thin foam square. Which the 'pillow' seamed to be made out of as well. I literally felt like I was going to fall through the bed slats in the night. The door to the bathroom didnt close and the room was tiny and stiflingly hot. The location is this hostels only saving grace.

It's more like a small family guest-house than hostel (the owners live in the same building).
It has a small garden-patio with a fire place. Location is pleasant - in a good and relatively green neighborhood, just few blocks away from Plaza Serrano. The staff was very positive and eager to socialize. On the downside: the rooms could have been bigger (I guess it is a common 'wish' in hostels in Bs.As) and there is some maintenance work to be done in the bathrooms. Overally, a decent budget option.

Mt Soho is small, nice hostel in a lovely neighbourhood. I spent two weeks there on my vacations in Buenos Aires and liked this place a lot, because the people here become like a family and made that place so special!!! Everyone, Thank you so much for everything!! I really loved staying with you! :-*

This hostel is well located and the staff are nice.

The hostel itself and the rooms are poor though. We stayed in the Beatles room which was a reasonable size but had no windows, was grubby, shabby and the bathroom was tiny.

The owner also tried to charge us a ridiculous exchange rate to pay in pesos and not dollars. The rate at the time was 4.8 but she wanted to charge us 6.0. More than a bit cheeky!

Thank you so much for your review - the guests feed-backs are very important to us, in order to better understand the guest's experience and improve our services and facilities. We are a young, but cherished, hostel with a lot to grow and it's our goal to be better every day. We have new amazing achievements almost everyday, and we could not do that without the feedback and critics of our guests.
I would also like to apologize for any misunderstood in regard to the dollar rate - as you may know now, Argentina's policies on currency exchange result on a very unstable dollar rate (as well as a lot of parallel rates), and one day's rate may not be next's. We are adjusting to these new politics, as all Argentinean businesses. We had no dishonest intention towards you and we are sorry if there was any misinterpretation.
