As others have indicated, the hotel reception staff are not the smiliest of people, however I found them to be effective and courteous and although a smile at check-in and check-out would have made the day slightly sunnier, it wouldn't have made my stay any different.
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the housekeeping good at refreshing the room each day. There were, however, a number of things lacking that would have been useful. There was no free bottled water in the room (perhaps tap water is potable, but this was not made clear), and simliarly no tea or coffee making facilities. There was a minibar, with water and other drinks in it, but these of course are not free. Also, there were no ironing facilities and none could be loaned from the reception. Shirt pressing cost around US$4 per piece. Finally, the TV had no international channels, so if you don't speak Spanish, don't expect to watch the news as you fall to sleep.
The WiFi was also fairly dreadful (the signal was OK, but the speed was slower than an arthritic tortoise), especially during the morning, day, evening and night. At other times it was just OK.
The hotel restaurant had a reasonable choice of meals, if somewhat lacklustre in their presentation and taste. Service was also a little laid back.More
