My wife and I spent an excellent day in the countryside outside of Buenos Aires enjoying the Camino Pampa experience. A 1.5 hour drive brought us to a quaint and authentic town, where we met our guide, Juan Manuel Hernandez. He was really a highlight of our day - incredibly interesting and engaging, spoke perfect English, and very knowledgeable as well. After a brief tour of the town, we took a brief drive to an absolutely beautiful estanzia (ranch), where we spent the day horseback riding (optional, but easy and fun for beginners), eating incredible barbeque, and watching real working gauchos working the ranch. After a wonderful lunch, we were treated to an informal show by the gauchos that included music, dance, and a display of horseback riding skill. One of the most amazing experiences was a performance by a young and very talented gaucho who showed us how new horses are trained in their culture. If you love horses (or animals in general) this is a must-see. One of the most touching and gentle displays of love between horse and rider we've ever seen. In all a wonderful way to understand the very complex and sophisticated gaucho culture.
My boyfriend and I had been in BA for three weeks - living everything city and wanted to see some of the countryside, gaucho life and get a break from the hustle bustle. Camino Pampa day tour was the best choice! The day was full of everything e hoped for - culture, art, history and wonderful people. We thoroughly enjoyed the day with Laura touring San Antonio de Areco and Estancia El Ombu. Laura was a gracious host and a wealth of information. By the end fo the day we were completed enchanted by her. Our driver, Santiago, was also a great host and gave us a little tour of Buenos Aires on our way out of town, and back again. We would recommend Camino Pampa to anyone visiting Buenos Aires.
Juan is a wonderful guide who led us through a splendid time horse riding, dancing, eating and touring. The Gaucho horse whisperer made the day!!! Just do it.

We had an extraordinary and relaxing day at an estancia (ranch). We got picked up at our hotel at 8:30am by our guide for the day, Marcelo. We went to a village called San Antonio de Areco. Along the way, Marcelo gave us lots of info about what we were seeing. Once in the village, we learned about gaucho history, gaucho outfits, and silversmithing. We visited an old bar, the church, and the town square, with more great info along the way. Then we went down a dirt road for several miles to a beautiful cattle ranch. There we enjoyed empanadas, cervesa, wine, and a tour of the ranch. Part of the tour was on horseback. So fun! Then we had a relaxing lunch with many kinds of grilled meats, with several side dishes and wine and dessert. Finally, we were treated to music, dancing, and horsemanship. It was a full day that we loved. Marcelo was great! The outing was very worth the price.
It was a very insightful tour of the history of the region and how that was responsible for developing a class of plantation workers (estancia) now called gauchos.
It was very special to have developed this knowledge and then see it in action at a current working estancia, including a sampling of their food, music and dance.
Juan Manuel was outstanding guide.
I have read many reviews for this estancia tour and it's all been said. From our driver, José, to our guide Juan Manuel, to the gauchos, to the meal, to the dances, to the gaucho with his horse all was superb. This is a not to be missed tour. If you are lucky enough to get Juan Manuel as your guide you are set for a truly authentic and amazing day.
