“Excellent Staff, Room and Value!”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

I was very pleased with the room, the professional English speaking staff and the phenomenal location of this hotel. Right near my favorite restaurant, Fervor, the Recoleta Cemetery and the sights of the city. A great value and I would definitely return.

The hotel is located in one of the best areas of Buenos Aires. It's walking distance from gat sightseeing, shopping and restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice, and the breakfast included in the price is excellent.

A friend who spends a lot of time in Argentina recommended the Intersur Recoleta. It’s interesting because when I did a search on tripadvisor for hotels in the Recoleta neighborhood this hotel didn’t show up. Had it not been for our friend, we never would have found this gem. Boy, are we glad we did!

Our initial contact was through emails which were answered promptly. When we arrived at the hotel late at night after a long day of travel from the U.S., we were warmly greeted by Sebastian who works behind the front desk. He said our room had been upgraded to a junior suite!

Upon entering the room, a well-appointed bathroom was straight ahead. To the left was a sitting room with two comfy chairs, a sizeable desk with desk chair, and a flat screen TV. To the right was the bedroom with a king-size bed (unexpected), very fine bed linens and another flat-screen TV. (I don’t think we turned on either TV!) We were very comfortable in this room and hated to leave.

The breakfast, which was included, was ample – sweets, breads, delicious medialunas (small Argentinian croissants), cheese, meats, crepes, eggs, cereal, fruit, juice. Also, the hotel has an Italian restaurant, Marcelo, which looked and smelled delicious but we never got to try it.

The neighborhood is upscale and a few blocks away is the Recoleta Cemetary and the Sunday art fair – both great things to do in Buenos Aires.

We’d highly recommend the Intersur Recoleta for comfort, location and price.

Very helpful, English speaking staff. Plenty of bus services in front of the hotel. Nice neighbourhood - we felt safe walking around at night and there are restaurants close by. There is also a grocery and a laundromat within a couple of minutes walk. It is walking distance to the Recoleta cemetery.

The hotel is in a good Recoleta location - safe and central. The Jr. Suite we had was very nice - good size. The hotel could use some updating and paint and carpets although the lobby is very nice. The staff is very young and somewhat inexperienced - you need to ask for the same thing 2-3 times and then check up on it. They were very courteous and pleasant but a senior leader/manager would be beneficial. There is a security guard at all times in the lobby and we felt safe. They did recommend 2 restaurants in the area both good.
It you need a taxi they will call but it may take 15 to 20 minutes - hailing a cab out front is easy. They did not respond to my 5-6 emails before arrival requesting transportation from the domestic airport nor did they arrange a tour which I requested. Needless to say, we had no problem from the airport except the taxi line nor getting a tour arranged after arrival.
Breakfast every morning was quite good and substantial - a plus with hot and cold choices - a buffet.
The Italian restaurant off the lobby, Marcello is open most days for lunch and dinner. Very good homemade pasta and excellent service; nice wine list too. We suggest at least a lunch there.
Overall, I would stay there again and found the value OK for the room size and area.

Room Tip: Go for the junior suite - good size; modest noise on front side of hotel.

This hotel offers a range of accomodation. The executive rooms facing Avenida Callao can be noisy as it is a very busy, street of about 5 lanes in width. For a few dollars more, I took a Junior Suite, which had an uninspiring aspect from the window, but offered more space and quiet. The Junior Suite consisted of a reasonable bedroom area, with a small retreat, desk, wardrobe alcove area attached. The bathroom was well appointed. Decor is a little dated, but the room was clean and in excellent repair. I was happy with it. It's a solid, classy, but unexciting hotel.

House keeping was excellent, although I had to issue a couple of reminders when my room hadn't been done by midafternoon. To be fair, there was a very high occupancy rate due to Holy Week vacations. Breakfast was served in a lovely room and was a typical Argentinian breakfast, wiuth bain marie eggs, bacon, breads, cereal, juices and medialunas and pastries.

Wifi was free, but annoyingly, cut out if not used for about twenty minutes, so you need to log in again. When you come in from outside, you need to log in again. After a few days, it is annoying, but it's a small gripe.

Reception staff were pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable, but, as is common in large hotels, were more businesslike and professional, rather than warm. However, I wasn't planning to establish a relationship with them, so, as long as my needs were looked after, it wan't a problem. Any issues or requirements I had were dealt with quickly.

I arrived at 11.30pm on a Sunday, having missed lunch and dinner. Room service finishes at 9.30pm, which puzzled me. Their expensive main restaurant was closing as I arrived, so I had to go looking in the street in unfamiliar territory, late at night on a Sunday, when a lot of eateries close earlier. I felt that this was not quite good enough for this kind of hotel.

Where this hotel delivers is its location. Callao is full of shops, cafes, taxis and most things a tourist needs. Several supermarkets are nearby. It's a short walk to the shopping and attractions of the great Avenida Santa Fe. There's a laundry around the corner and several supermarkets in easy walking distance. It is in a very upmarket, safe area and only 5 minutes away from the famous La Biela cafe, the Recoleta Cemetary, which houses Eva Peron's tomb, the upmarket Recoleta Mall and Patio Bullrich, as well as the famous Floralis Generalis, the giant steel flower. It's a short taxi ride to the city centre and, if you feel energetic, you can even walk there. Prices can be a little higher than other parts of the city, but not outrageous.

Despite the few gripes, I would certainly consider staying here again.

The hotel is nicely located in the Recoleta borough, near all good shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful hotel with nice room with separate lounge and bedroom, 2 tvs, spacious bathroom with bath tub, quiet. Free wifi, gym, spa
and a gourmet italian restaurant. I loved my stay, staff very friendly. Just breakfast could have better quality food. The bacon isnt really bacon, fruit juice very artificial and cheap cheese and coffee. Perhaps they could have less variety and better quality.
