Owner description: A "Pay What You Want" tour, Buenos Aires Local Tours, is a great introduction to the past and present of Buenos Aires. You'll travel by public bus, subway and foot to see the Buenos Aires most tourists miss. Visiting Abasto, Congreso and Plaza de Mayo and it's the perfect way to get to know the city as a local does. Run by English & American expats, there are regular group "Pay What You Want" tours, and a private custom tour service is also available if you would like to visit other areas such as Recoleta (& the cemetery), La Boca or San Telmo.

“the best thing to do on the first day of your stay in BA”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Everything that I can say have already been written in the earlier reviews, but once again - this really is an awesome tour, one of the best free walking tours I have ever attended (and I attended many). I feel like this city walk has been a solid foundation to exploring Buenos Aires further. No matter if your stay here is going to be short or long - take the tour and you either get nice idea where you wanna have a closer look next days, or, if you are leaving soon, you get a nice overview of the most important landmarks.
Jonathan is a great guide, you will get tons of information about Buenos Aires and Argentina, their history, culture, politics, ... and also great practical hints! It's like a mine of information - seems that you can ask any questions and get the answer :)
Thanks to Jonathan for a very nice afternoon in the city - sure I will recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting BsAs!

“Fun & informative”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

4 hours went by in no time with Jonathan's enthusiastic & informative guide of the central part of the city as well as the Abasto quarter. His detailed explanation of the bus system would help any newly arrived travellers get around this city with a large and very connected bus system. We can easily imagine his free tour to be way superior to conventional paid tours that are impersonal and over commercialized. Highly recommended!

“Great ambassador for Buenos Aires”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

That was how my husband summed up the tour. Jonathan is as advertised. He picks you up where he says he will, when he says he will, takes great care with his charges, and shares his extensive knowledge (large and small) of Buenos Aires. It's one hell of a tour. Brilliant.

“This is an excellent tour!”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

My friend and I had heard about this "tour given by an ex-pat Brit that starts at the Plaza Italia that starts everyday at 11am" from other American tourists. Jonathan came highly recommended and we weren't disappointed. The day of our particular tour it was overcast. When only 2 other tourists showed up for the tour we were fearful he might cancel but we were not disappointed. In fact, our tour was even more personal because of the small size. Jonathan patiently answered all of our questions. He also followed up with excellent recommendations and suggestions afterwards that were tailored specifically to us after he had gotten to know us throughout the day.

I especially liked the stop at Carlos Gardel's house and lunch in Abasto. Who knew? I would have felt like such an idiot if I returned to the US without knowing about Carlos Gardel. Jonathan's patient advice on how to use the Buenos Aires metro and bus was especially useful for anyone planning on spending more than a few days in BA. An excellent tour.

“Jonathon's tour is dead solid perfect.”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

We won't repeat the superlative in the earlier reviews since we agree with all of them. Jonathon's tour was excellent and is well worth your time. However, we will add something that was unique to our tour.

We are elderly, and my wife has somewhat limited mobility. We were concerned that this would be a problem and explained this to Jonathon before beginning. He assured us it was not a problem, so we continued. All during the tour, Jonathon was very concerned about her limitations and made sure we were not left behind.

Take Jonathon's tour. You won't be disappointed.
