We stayed at the hotel so had breakfast here everyday which was excellent. But the real treat is dinner. We had a nice small meal one night before a tango show with some of the best prawns I've ever had. But the "One Table" on Monday nights is what you shouldn't miss. The restaurant is on the "top 50 Latin American restaurants" and also in the top 20 on trip advisor. The lure tonight was the special "One Table" event. He does this each Monday and the menu changes depending on what he finds fresh in the markets. It's a nine course tasting with food pairings and all 20 guests sit at a communal table so it is like a dinner party. The guests included a couple from NYC--she was once a principal dancer with the NYC ballet and he does contracting;  a woman, her daughter and a friend from Michigan; two woman from London and Amsterdam; 2 couples who live in BA although he's from Italy; three young folks one who is working during a gap year who is from London and Singapore, one from Sao Paolo, and one from BA; and 4 others that were at the other end of the table. The food was amazing. They started with prawns served with a drink of cucumber, Sauvignon blanc, and vodka. Then we sat down to a plate of house made salami and bruschetta. Next a salad of amazing tomatoes, lettuces, and buratta.  Then an amazing dish of a Sui vida cooked egg with hummus. Next was a fresh fish dish followed by a squid and mussel risotto. Then a veal sirloin that was amazing. Dessert was a lemon gelato with figs, cherries, a peach gellee, and carob crunch. All matched with excellent Argentinean wines. Dinner started at 8:30 and finished about 12:45!!!

We were in BA for one week. We went pretty much to all the top restaurants in the city, including many listed in Tripadvisor. I can tell you this one was the best. It is a multi-course menu that blows you away. We travel quite a bit and we have been to many good restaurants around the world. This one is in the top of the list. Also you cannot the beat the price, no way, 300 pesos for such food, OGM! To our surprise the restaurant was not full on a Wed night! I don't understand?? Maybe the location of the hotel? Also they don't take dollars, nevertheless it was still a great deal, the wine was $25 a bottle (they have many cheaper) fantastic. If you have to pick one restaurant in BA, this is it, believe me.

This year our culinary exploration of Buenos Aires took us over to Palermo Hollywood to this restaurant. Just a few steps from another wonderful eatery Osaka, Hernan Gipponi offers a similar experience in Argentine culinary fusion and adventure. We went with a group of friends and all decided to go with the 7-course Summer Tasting Menu for $300 AR$ (there actually was a "secret" course so really was 8; the very approachable and personable chef came to our table after dinner and explained that the tasting menus change about every 3 months), although I was the only one who went with the wine pairing, an additional $190 AR$.

Everything was well done and like most tasting menus, there are things one will like greatly and others that don't sizzle your taste buds (but of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it's terrible-in this case, quite the contrary). I loved the prawns from Madryn (served in a savory summer broth with vegetables), the white salmon course, and the Patagonian lamb (with cherry and pickled turnips) course. My only complaint would be they should have a listing of which wines they have paired with the course. While it is explained what the wines are as they are brought out, they have a printed menu only of the meal, not what wines are served. Some of the selections were highly complimentary to the meal (the pairing with the prawns, white salmon, and desert were my favs) and/or I was interested in finding in subsequent days. Next time I'll bring a pen!

The room is not huge but spacious and open. The restaurant (and attached hotel) does have a very modern aesthetic which is soften and warmed by photos, including of the chef at work in the kitchen, along one wall. Along another wall is a window looking into the kitchen, where you can see where the magic happens. Overall this was an excellent choice for a quality meal and, as some reviewers have pointed out, excellent value. While the portions of the courses sort of have that big-plate-where's-the-rest-of-the-food vibe and I had some doubts after the first couple of courses, I was satiated by the end and highly enjoyed the meal and wines.

We did the seven course tasting menu. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the portions were just the right size, and the wine pairings could not have been better.
