Recommended length of visit: <1 hour
Owner description: To understand Buenos Aires, you must taste the tango! Have a complete Tango Experience by booking a private class. They can also take you to a milonga (social tango dance salon) filled with locals dancing the real tango of Buenos Aires. Ruben also does taxi dancing with 1-5 women at a time, so that they can experience and be introduced in the milongas. (No tango show style) Beginners welcome and no partner is necessary. Classes are in English and Spanish. Ruben will teach you the basic principles of the dance and the unwritten codigos of the milonga. He doesn't teach patterns or steps, but tango based on the music, embrace, connection, improvisation, sensuality, and elegance. Private lessons and group classes by request.

Very warm, friendly & focused on their students, they are clearly living the tango and pass on this philosophy. The tango is good fun, a little challenging but well guided and I also can see how it could become addictive.
It is however the Cherie and Ruben show, welcome to Buenos Aires. Cherie was originally form California and although Ruben manages to communicate effectively he does not speak English he does speak Tango. We went to a milonga with Cherie y Ruben and that was an insight to BA social activity.
I do definitely recommend this warm embrace. Buy a copy of Cherie's book too, you will want to know her story. Cherie is an excellent communicator, and will stay in touch very effectively via email.

Best Argentine tango teachers! They are more than teachers...so nice, I spent several evenings with them at their table at different miongas. After 3 or 4 lessons, I was really dancing and am going to continue lessons when I return home.

Ruben and Cherie are a must do when in BA. They will also take you around to attractions off the beten path.

GRACIAS Ruen y Cheri!

Ruben y Cherie are wonderful, serious teachers whose classes are so fun and informative. They are great with beginners and with more experienced dancers. We have taken classes with them and send all our friends when they go to Buenos Aires.

But we almost didn't find them in the new category of Tours as we were looking for them under the Things To Do category and the Nightlife category. Anyone seriously interested in finding a tango teacher is probably never going to look for one in the Tours category.

This is too bad, because they will miss out on a great opportunity to learn to dance tango and experience life in the dancehalls of Buenos Aires as the real Porteño locals experience it.

I took a series of private classes with Ruben and Cherie in April 2012 in their apartment. They are excellent teachers and very friendly. They taught me a lot about the social codes at the milongas -- much more than just dancing technique and steps. I had danced for a year before I arrived in BsAs and can recommend Ruben and Cherie as teachers for experienced dancers as well as for beginners; they have very good technique and an acute mastery of floorcraft at crowded milongas. Plus they are very nice people, a real pleasure to spend time with. Thanks for the classes Ruben and Cherie, hasta la pista!
