“Best hotel in Palermo?”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Very nice hotel, nice building, rooms redone brand new, solarium, well located in Palermo.
The best still iks service. Staff is incredibly friendly, always happy if they can do something to ease your stay (like laundry, calling a secure cab, booking a show). They also have a nice assortment of Argentinian wines, very reasonably priced. The breakfast is top (full breakfast, cooked for you). Icing on the cake, the owner being French, everyone speaks French. It is cool if you are French (and I am!!)

The only drawback might be the location, Palermo is not central and one explored, feels a bit remote. But the hotel is the best I tested in BsAs yet!

Room Tip: quiet, even on the street. Higher is better ?

Rooms are nice and clean (a safe is included in the room). The best was the staff: very friendly and helpful, we really felt at home and taken care of. Thank you guys!
the hotel is located in a nice and safe area, with good restaurants and bars within walking distance. It will take more or less 20 min walk to Palermo subte station.
When we checked out they had no problem in storing our luggage so that we had time to relax and walk around Buenos Aires before catching our flight home.
there is free wireless and a PC on the first floor (just in front of our room (very handy).
If you wash your hair and need to use the hair-drier just bear in mind that the one in the room is a bit "slow" so it may take a while to dry your hair completely (at least, it was for me). It wasn't a big problem as it was sunny outside, but just in case you have very long hair ;-)

Room Tip: Lift is available so no problem for upper floor rooms - our on 1st floor was pretty big and there wa...

"Rendez Vous was our best choice in Buenos Aires. Location is great , nice bars and restaurants and very good shops just walking distance. Staff is very friendly with very personal service, always ready to help with a smile. Rooms are nice, very clean and beds are the best!!! Breakfast is delicious and everything is homemade.
We will definitely come back to this hotel in our next visit to BA. Thank you so much and we hope to come back very soon !!"
i really enjoyed the staff there, specially a lady call ''Adeline'' who was very helpful and fun!

Located on large one-way street but generally quite area. Number of good restaurants close by within walking distance. Room of moderate size, comfortable with large tree in front of our window. Very helpful owner and staff. Easy to catch taxi in front of hotel with taxi prices being reasonable. Breakfast very good with fresh fruit, breads, juice, eggs, etc. As one of our taxi drivers in the downtown area said "...you look up, you see Paris. You look down, you see India". The caveat being that in many parts of Buenos Aires including around this hotel, the sidewalks are uneven, have missing payment , etc., so be careful walking especially at night and if you have mobility issues. My wife and I very much enjoyed our three day stay at the Rendez Vous.

You should stay at Rendez Vous hotel for 2 primary reasons... the location and their awesome employee named Adeline.

We really liked staying in Palermo Hollywood. There are so many nice cafes, bars and restaurants to walk to, and we loved exploring the rest of Palermo. It was so great walking out of the hotel each day and discovering new gems.

Speaking of gems... Adeline was so helpful and warm. She helped make our stay in Buenos Aires so special. She speaks French, Spanish and English, so she has a knack for communicating with anyone and everyone. She gave some great suggestions for activities, restaurants and cafes and was always willing to chat. We loved her. The owner, Frederique, was also really helpful and knowledgeable. We didn't see him as much as Adeline, so she became our go-to resource.

The hotel itself has a cool, funky, French decor and each room has a different theme. We actually stayed there twice... once at the beginning of our trip for 5 nights and then again for two nights between going from El Calafate to Iguazu. In retrospect, we probably would have tried a different hotel the second time just to try something different, but it was too late to cancel. For our first leg, we stayed in the room featured in the Trip Advisor picture. I think it is the Deluxe. It is on floor 1 right above the dining room and faces the street. Just a warning... it gets noisy in the morning. We didn't mind the noise, but it is worth mentioning. Between the street noise and the breakfast hustle and bustle, you definitely know it's morning. The one thing we did mind was the waft of cigarette smoke that floated up from the courtyard into our room when people were smoking. It didn't happen too often, but a couple of times. The bed was a little funky because it is 2 beds pushed together. We both tried to mind the gap in our sleep. But the room is really spacious and bright. The bathroom was fine.

On our second leg, we stayed in the Deluxe with the Jacuzzi and a private terrace. Unfortunately, by the time we came back to BA, the weather got really cool and we didn't use the jacuzzi at all (plus there were pillows and furniture cushions in the jacuzzi, which made it even less inviting). We didn't even go out on the terrace. It wasn't worth the extra $20 a night. Also, the room was much much smaller than the first one. It could also use a detailed cleaning. There is a glass top over the buffet/dresser and if you look closely, there is a lot of dust and dead bugs trapped underneath. All it needs is a good dusting.

Word of warning... if you take the stairs, which we did, the lights are on a timed sensor and they take a good few seconds to turn on from flight to flight. After a few glasses of Malbec, it got a little scary at times in the dark. Also, when you are going up the stairs, the final stair is an inch or so taller than the rest. We tripped over it almost every time. We got a good laugh about it, but it was also quite jarring.

I guess most of the other reviewers disagree with me, but the most disappointing part about Rendez Vous hotel is the breakfast. It was an utterly unpleasant experience each time we went. After a few times of more of the same, we decided to spare ourselves the frustration and go out to a nice local cafe. We hate to miss out on something that is included and spend out of pocket, but it was worth it. The staff on breakfast duty are very unfriendly and clearly don't want to be there. Maybe it's because they are being asked to do too much, but they made us feel like they would rather be at the dentist than working the breakfast shift. The hotel is not set up to accommodate the kind of breakfast they are offering, which is a rather full menu with eggs done all sorts of different ways, toasts, sides, etc. Their kitchen doesn't appear to be big enough to fulfill orders like omelets, scrambled eggs, and toast, in a timely manner. This is probably why we had to wait so long for everything... from having our table cleaned, to getting some coffee, to getting a menu (which sometimes didn't happen), to getting anything to eat. Also, the seating is so uncomfortable. The booths are at a 90 degree angle, as are the chairs. But the most egregious part is that the coffee is HORRIBLE. It tasted like hot water was poured into a mug that once had coffee in it. This is a crime both because Buenos Aires has a proud, cafe culture, and the owners are FRENCH! They should know better.

The good news is there is an easy fix for this. My suggestion would be for Rendez Vous hotel to simplify their breakfast and use their space more wisely. They should focus on making just one thing well "to-order"... coffee. Get rid of those piles of dusty magazines on that huge table and make that a buffet table, along with the bar. Put out some medialunas, toast, cheeses, cereals and let guests help themselves. And then, just focus on making good coffee and having good service. This would ease so much of the pressure on the staff too. As it is now, 2 people are expected to be hosts, servers, baristas, cooks, and bus tables. It's just too much. A buffet would make so much more sense and might allow the breakfast staff to crack a smile once in a while.

Finally, aside from Adeline and Frederique, the rest of the front desk staff was not that helpful. They discouraged us from using public transportation, which was baffling. We finally decided to ignore their advice and get on the subway rather than sitting in traffic in a taxi. The subway turned out to be awesome. It is about a 15 minute walk, but it was so convenient and so much faster than dealing with the city streets. Traffic in BA is really really bad.

All this being said, the hotel has a lot of nice qualities and with some simple improvements, our rating would easily have been 4 stars rather than 3. I should also mention, this was our honeymoon, so our expectations were pretty high. But we still had a fantastic time in BA!

This hotel is probably the best boutique hotel I've stayed in. Really nice rooms, and the bed was very comfortable, shower was hot and water pressure good. The owners were very personable and breakfast was great-- I enjoyed the yogurt and medialunas (croissants) with duce de leche. The only con is it was a 20 min walk to the subway, and I had to take the subway to the office for work a few days while I was there. Other than that, great hotel and great experience in BA.
