El Almacen is a nice little place with amazing food, very chic and with an excellent service. I have lunch there often, and in a neighborhood that does not offer a wide selection of good restaurants this is without questions the best.
A little expensive but being in Recoleta and having a GOOD meal is really priceless.
Strongly recommended.

Having been a little disappointed with several of the restaurants we had tried in Buenos Aires, we were delighted to be recommended by our hotel to El Almacen de los Milagros. We were greeted on entry by the owner - a delightful and vivacious young lady called Milagros. The restaurant has only about 40 covers and a long table had been set up for a party of about 14 people which worried us slightly as we knew that the kitchen would come under pressure. As we sat ordering our wine, the crowd of Americans arrived and were seated, given wine and an amuse bouche before we had even ordered which slightly irritated me.

When the food did arrive, it was excellent! The young chef of only 26 had been voted the most promising young chef of the year last year and he was certainly talented. I started with a small tower of pesto layered with prawns and a thin layer of potato. It was light, zesty and beautiful to look at. This was followed by pasta filled with butternut squash, pine nuts and sitting in a light creamy sauce flavoured delicately with herbs. I finished off with a minutely thin apple tart which was quite delicious. We had a very decent bottle of Malbec to accompany the meal. Both my husband and I were very impressed with the quality of the cooking and the attentive but unobtrusive service.

What impressed us most of all, was the fact that two or three couples were turned away at the door despite the fact that four of the tables in the restaurant remained empty. The owner explained that she was not prepared to over-stress the kitchen by filling tables just for the sake of it. How rare. We both wished that we had discovered this lovely place (just around the corner from The Four Seasons) before our disasterous New Year's Eve meal at an Italian (we have both written about it).

You will not be disappointed and what a wonderful end to our trip.

Milagros Patilla is the young, attractive, 40 year old (don't tell anyone) proprietor of this small 40 seat fusion/ Italian restaurant. She used to be a tour guide and decided to open a restaurant serving the sort of food she liked.

Her name means miracle and she has created one here in this establishment. She has a young 26 year old chef called Lucas Sholbati who has recently been voted the best new young chef in Buenos Aires.

If a restaurant is to succeed you have to be present to make sure it runs like clockwork and Milagros is there taking your order, explaining the menu and enthusing about the dishes. The pastas are home made and the desserts are a delight and presented beautifully .

With reasonably priced Malbec wines, this is a middle of the road priced restaurant and I was told that the price they charged for New Years eve for a 7course meal, was less than I paid in another restaurant for a poor 3 course meal.

The night we went, Milagros had a large 14 person American party and refused some turn up customers on the grounds that the kitchen would not cope and she would not compromise the food she was serving. A creditable moral and business stance.

If Milagros continues to serve this kind of food and her chef stays and continues to improve with age, she will have created much more than a miracle. Good luck Milagros

Highly recommended bistro in the Recoleta area. The chefs whips up creativity with simple elegance, taking local cuisine to another level. The ambiance is classy and layback; the service is superb- speaking both Spanish and English. The dinner is a bit expensive, offering a la carte and tasting menu. They are open all day, serving delicious pastries, lunches with gourmet sandwiches, salads, and dish of the day. A must-go for foodies.
