Alma de Buenos Aires Hotel
Ranked #175 of 256 Buenos Aires B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 2, 2013

I came to Buenos Aires to attend a conference and booked this place because of its proximity to the venue: upon arrival I was shown a room so small it didn't have a closet or anyplace for clothes! (not evena nail on the wall or hangers) Also, it was covered in dust and had a moldy smell. The receptionist said they didn't have another room, for the entire lenght of my stay, and "take it or leave it,. lady".
The next day they moved me to a different -also very small- room...although in the meantime I had time to compain to the company through which I had booked.
All in all, it wasn't all bad: the elevator is an antique and it works, they have tried to decorate the halls with good taste and some porteño flavor. Some of the staff actually smile when they talk to you. The cleaning ladies are warm if not tidy.
But then: it is noisy at night, the bathroom is uncomfortably small, breakfast is very poor...
Do avoid this joint if you possibly can.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 106.

... stay at the Alma de Buenos Aires Hotel Boutique:
http://www.almadebuenosaires.com.ar/

It's a clean, comfortable place with nice rooms equipped with a fridge, a safe and everything you'll need including a great service with very nice people ready to help out. And in the centre of the city! Do not pay extra unless you prefer luxurious stays... ;-)

Room Tip: Room 502 is too small, avoid it if you can!

Great (little) room for a great price near Calle Florida (one of the main streets). As a single female, I felt it was a safe neighborhood, and being there on one of the hottest days of the year, I can attest to the quality of the air conditioning ;) Lovely little place, though the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is not good for world travelers. The 3 star rating is not fit for this hotel. I can rate this hotel as terrible and worst hotel we've been stayed before. The rooms were very small, very noisy and the location was in the middle of the market area. The staff were not helpfull and not well educated when it comes to tourist stuff. We paid $110.00 a day for a very small room with balcony. The room with balcony was very misleading, all you can see were the sidewalk vendors and a Irish topless bar next to the building. You can hear the music from that topless bar banging on to your eardrums like a rap music that made your head spin one hundred times in the middle of the night. It has 19 inches LCD television, the room temperature was permanent with no thermostats to control the room temperature. We requested a queen size bed but what we had was a double size bed. The internet room has only 3 computers and locked you out when you use if for one hour. The breakfast buffet is very bad too with fewer selections. We wasted our money staying in that hotel for three days. I will not recommend this hotel to all my friends and to all world travelers who are planning to stay in Buenos Aires. I rated this hotel as ZERO rate.

Room Tip: Their advertising was very misleading.

The hotel was very clean and the staff ultra friendly. They helped us with several recommendations and booking events, etc.

The rooms have a nice bit of modern interior design. Our rooms only had small showers, but the bathroom was very nice and clean with lots of stonework. The room we stayed in was pretty small (and we are not big people at all), but there was no in the room next door so they opened it up for our use without extra cost. Realize that they did this on their own accord. We didn't complain about the size or request anything bigger. Very nice :)

The hotel has a great location in Microcentro, near the obelisk in Plaza de la Republica. It's near several famous tango halls, lots of great eateries serving parilla and other things on Reconquista, and the shopping on Florida Avenue. Its also a short walk to several government buildings and Plazas. Generally its pretty touristy in this area.

On the downside, the rooms are a bit small. The rooftop deck has a sauna and hot tub, but the sauna was not working and the hot tub didn't heat up, nor was it clean. The area is noisy at night, so if you don't like it ask for a room not facing the street, or select a different hotel.
