“Gem in BA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2010

My husband and I just came back from a two week trip in Argentina and Duque Hotel was fantastic! It is a small boutique hotel in Palermo Soho - a short walk to great restaurants and shopping. Below are further points on the hotel.

1. All the staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful. We stayed here on our last leg of the trip and they helped us book restaurant reservations and also offered to book things like tango shows, football matches, taxis, etc. - whatever you needed.

2. The entire hotel was spotless.

3. The hotel and rooms are very nicely decorated. The hotel offers free coffee and treats throughout the day. For breakfast, along with the traditional spread (breads, cheese, meats, sweets etc.), you can order an omlette or scrambles eggs. My husband wasn't going to make it down for breakfast and they put together a tray of food and brought it to our room.

The Duque Hotel prides itself on being a HOME to visitors staying in BA (their words, not mine) - - the hotels decor and setup, combined with the great attitude from the staff went a long way to live up to these words. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Duque for five nights during our visit to Buenos Aires. The hotel itself is a gorgeous building that is tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean (like as in spotless). Our room was spacious with a comfortable king size bed and modern bathroom. The hotel has a very relaxing outdoor space and pool which was a perfect retreat with our morning coffees. Although the hotel itself is extremely comfortable, the staff is what sets the Duque apart. Every single staff member that we interacted with was extremely helpful, polite and patient - this type of consistency among staff members is rare. They helped is with restaurant recommendations and reservations for a Tango show and the Boca Juniors game. What impressed us the most was how helpful they were when we had to come back to the hotel from the airport (after checking out) due to a 24 hour LAN strike.- this resulted in staying another night in BA. Barbara called our hotel in Bariloche to let them know that we would not be checking in that day, changed our car rental and helped us contact LAN to update our flight itinerary. This day in particular wasn't great due to the travel hiccups but what made it worse was that I Ieft my purse (with my wallet and camera) in the airport taxi when we got dropped off at the hotel and I didn't realize until we had been back for about a 1/2 hour (when Barbara asked for the credit card that I booked my car rental with). As soon as I figured this out she got on the phone with the taxi company and they were able to get in touch with the driver who returned the purse within 45 minutes! (I was very lucky!). Neither my husband or I speak Spanish so her help was really appreciated. It is during chaotic and emotional travel moments like this where hotel staff can really make a positive impact which makes all the difference. Barbara and the rest of the staff were so sweet about it. Thank you for making our stay in BA so memorable! We will be sure to stay there again next time we are in BA and recommend the Duque to all of our friends.

This hotel looked really cute online, but for such a good price I thought it was too good to be true. I thought it was perfect and definitely recommend it (and I'm picky). It's right in the heart of Palermo. It has the old school Buenos Aires feel in the rooms which I like - they have character. But everything is clean, modern, etc. There are a couple exercise machines, hot tub downstairs and a cute little outdoor pool and lounge area. Breakfast was great, didn't have a chance to eat in restaurant. And there is a little living room area to have drinks/relax that was so nice. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were really nice and went out of their way too.

Duque's wonderful staff is its best asset. They were ever patient and helpful in booking reservations and providing directions and advice in excellent English if needed. There is always someone at the front desk.

The hotel itself is spotless and located near lots of shops, restaurants, and El Subte (subway). They serve a lovely breakfast in the morning with pastry, cereal, sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, and eggs upon request.

If I return to a city, I usually try to stay in a different hotel. When I return to Buenos Aires, I will definitely stay at the Duque.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel. We reserved the lowest price room available and were concerned about whether we would hear noise when we were given a 2nd floor room facing the busy street. However, the double glass doors kept out the sound and we slept well on the very comfortable king bed.
The hotel is located at the edge of Palermo and is a few blocks away from the good restaurants, bars and shops. The subway is 4 blocks away and we used it several times. Staff was friendly and helpful. Coffee, tea and sweets were available all day and night, which was a nice touch. The hotel will arrange airport transfers upon request.

This is the first time that I'm writing a review on Trip Advisor. I stayed at this hotel with my sister for a week on a leisure and business trip. Here are a few reasons why it was beyond amazing:
1-Central location in Palermo Soho so you can walk everywhere, but it's not in the crowded/noisy part of the area
2-Staff knows your name, helps you plan activities, always available
3-Hotel is clean, cute/comfortable rooms with modern amenities including in-room phone, safe to fit laptop (not to mention the best water pressure EVER)
4-Amazing breakfast and desserts all day and night included in the price

There are many more wonderful qualities about the Duque Hotel (including the great rates), but you will need to visit the property to truly experience Buenos Aires hospitality at its finest. I can't wait to return to my new home away from home!

Duque hotel poses a dilemma: do you keep a jewel like this to yourself or do you share its ample virtues with the rest of the world? OK. SInce the secret's out let's add our 2-cents worth, the result of a flawless six-night stay: everything you've read here about the Duque is true. My wife and I agreed that this was the best lodging experience in the seven times we've visited BA. So... Where to start? Here're a few impressions: There's the beautiful street-to-roof restoration of this ca. 1920s mansion, the slick and elegant decor, the flower-fringed backyard and minipool where thrushes can be heard virtually 24/7 and robins feast on garden worms--an oasis of relaxation. And the lovely rooms (the "deluxe" are worth the extra $$$) and modern bathrooms, the complimentary bathrobes and the delicious free espressos/lattes/etc. in the dining area and garden. The location: close enough to walk in minutes to Palermo's Soho/Hollywood/Viejo eat/drink/dance/shop action spots yet tucked away in a quiet corner. Plus plenty of taxis and "colectivos" at the corner and a few blocks walk from the Scalabrini Ortiz "Subte" (subway) stop. Above all, the friendly, helpful young staff, --Florencia, Facundo, Barbara and their colleagues who have to excuse my forgetfulness-- led by owner Fernando Arroyo. One could go on and on. Stay at the Duque; if your experience parallels ours you'll leave BA on a high. Congratulations to everyone at Duque --setting a lofty standard of quality, efficiency and charm in boutique lodging.
