“This hotel sparkles”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

The staff is amazing--well trained, friendly, and helpful. The room was quiet, overlooking the back yard on the first (second) floor. The matress and pillows were comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was wonderful. Breakfast was excellent, with a selection of eggs, cheese, ham, baked breads, pastry, juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee, and tea. In the afternoons, one can have coffee or tea with pastries. Everything was well maintained and in good condition. The hotel is surrounded by good restaurants, shops, and is only a 5 minute walk from the subway. Downtown is only a 15 minute ride away. Upon checkout, there were no surprise add-ons to the bill. I would rate the Duque as one of my most pleasant hotel experiences anywhere in the world, and will gladly return in the future.

Room Tip: I stayed in the back overlooking the yard, had no street noise. Some nights, I slept with the windo...

We stayed there in April 2013 for two nights. When you arrive and from the outside this looks like a private house. You ring the bell and they let you in. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, they all speak excellent english so you won't have a problem if you don't speak spanish. We were in the first floor with no street view or balcony. The room is not very big but is very comfortable and clean. The bathroom has a walk in shower very spacious and the pressure of the water is very powerful so you can enjoy your showers there! Great flat screen tv with loads of channels. Downstairs at the ground floor there is a little lobby with two nice sofas and a flat screen tv which if you are killing time is nice to spend a few minutes there to chill out. We did not use the spa because of lack of time as there is a lot to do in BS AS, but it looked great. The location of this hotel is excellent, it is an area of Buenos Aires which is very safe, then there is plenty of shops just 5 minutes away in Avenida Santa Fe. Every time you come in to the hotel you need to ring the bell as there is not open door there but even if you come back late in the night there is someone there to let you in, it might sound annoying but I guess they do it to add safety. Breakfast was great too. If coming to Buenos Aires might stay again as liked the area and had a great staying at this hotel. I recommend it.

This was our first visit to Argentina and we chose this hotel on the basis of the high marks it receives in the reviews.

I would agree with the comments about the staff, who are superb and could not do enough to help but not with the high marks given to the rooms and location, both of which are poor in my opinion.

The hotel is built in the back garden of an old house and is surrounded by tall buildings. We paid for a superior room but were given one that looked straight out to a high wall only 4 metres away!. It was like living at the bottom of a well and the room was very dark and gloomy. The fact that only 1 of the three lamps in the ceiling, light was working did not improve things and the "bathroom" only had a shower and not a bath (sorry but I like my bathtub). If that is superior then what are the standard rooms like?

As for the location, it is well away from the main tourist areas round the Plaza Mayo and Puerto Madero areas. Public transport is poor in the area (although other parts of BA are served by a metro) and while taxis are cheap it takes about 30 minutes to get anywhere because the taxi will spend most of the time stuck in a traffic jam. After a while we noticed that the drivers seem to avoid the main roads and deliberately go into clogged back streets in order to prolong the journey and (of course) put up the fare). Imagine Manhattan cab drivers driving up and down every back alley rather than using the main avenues and you will get the idea.

So to sum up:

Location: **

Room Tip: Ask to see your room before accepting it (we could not do this because it was late and dark when we...

Dear guest,

We are so sorry to hear that the hotel didn’t fill out your expectations. In the name of the whole Duque family we would like to apologize, that you didn’t enjoyed your vacations as much as we would like you to.
As you may know the hotel was built in a historical building of B.A. That is why we are a boutique hotel in which we try to respect the house structure as much as we can and draw on all of our spaces available. As for the bathtub we know that there are a lot of people that enjoy them that is why we offer the Jacuzzi service in our spa.
As for the location of the hotel, we are in one of the most trending neighbourhoods in B.A; close to the best restaurants, bars and clothing stores in the city, As in every big city transportation can be tedious at some points but this is something out of our hands, still there are plenty ways of transportation as the subway which is only 4 blocks away from the hotel and can get you to the downtown area in less than 20 minutes (in a big city as this one this is fast),
Again we would like to thank you for giving us your feedback. Greetings from al of our staff and we hope all the best for you.

Location is in a nice neighborhood. The Staff is genuinely friendly and helpful.
The rooms are very clean and well decorated.
The spa is a nice addition, although it could be upgraded with more relaxing chairs or a larger jacuzzi.
Buenos Aires is a charming and delightful city.
I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was outstanding. The staff are extremely helpful, the accommodations (the water pressure and temperature were terrific) very comfortable and the breakfast bountiful and tasty. Very highly recommended!

Room Tip: The back rooms are probably a bit quieter.

Beautiful building, lovely back yard. The room was decorated sweetly with art deco ambition and pics of NYC (?), but who cares when it is flooded with light and overlooks the flowering yard. I never thought I'd say it about a hotel, but I loved the bathroom with it's window into the yard and beautiful details.
The hotel is charming and there is no betetr way to start the day than with excellent breakfast in the beautiful back yard. We did not use the spa but it looked very appealing.
What makes this hotel extra special is the staff. Excellent English, very helpful, friendly and attentive.
The location is quaint, within a plesant 5-10 min walk to Palermo's squares and excellent restaurants, where we stayed out late every night.
Would most definitely come back here.

We just returned from Buenos Aires and stayed at the Duque Hotel for 5 days, before and after a trip to Iguazu Falls.

They were extremely helpful and allowed us to leave some luggage at the hotel while we were in Iguazu.
They spoke excellent English, breakfasts were very good. The hot tub and sauna were good and the rooms were excellent. They made excellent restaurant recommendations and made reservations for us.

We would highly recommend this hotel for couples. We came with our adult children (age 22 and 18) and facilities were excellent for them also.

Room Tip: the classic room was small for a couple, but not an issue.
