Guilty of utilizing Tripadvisor without ever posting a review myself to contribute, my stay at Duque Hotel in B.A. has inspired me to create a Tripadvisor account so that I may: a) give you guys the advice I'm SO glad I took about the Duque on this site and b) give proper acknowledgement to one of the finest hotel experiences I've had in +30 years of travel. Though adding to the praise of the Duque is somewhat bittersweet, as I know when I make it back to Argentina in a few years or so, it will likely be impossible to score a room there if they keep providing the experience they gave us. In bullets...

SERVICE:
- The entire staff speaks fantastic English. Being a regrettably monolingual American, this came in handy multiple times each of the 5 days we stayed here.
- The multilingual staff also just happens to be SUPER friendly and perhaps the most helpful I've ever encountered at any hotel: Natasha recommended a superb restaurant and a great, non-touristy area for local leather products. Barbara was our "logistics consultant," advising us on walking routes, hailing cabs, etc. Nahuel arranged a full-service, transpo/ticket/etc. outing for a Boca Juniors match (a difficult prospect for non-locals in multiple regards) for us. Roberto took great care of our luggage when we went to Mendoza for a few days and had it waiting for us in our new room without even asking us. Eva advised me on the best street to find authentic, reasonably-priced futbol jerseys. I didn't write these guys' names down...I remember each of them, as they all made lasting impressions with their smiles, positivity, patience and resourcefulness. Whoever hires the staff here should be commended, as there wasn't one weak link in the bunch.
- The hotel is delightfully small, so not only do you get to know the staff, but they also know you after no time at all. VERY personalized service with a maximum amount of social savvy...NEVER were they intrusive, but always aware, instinctive and helpful.
- The staff has great taste. I'm UBER picky about restaurants, experiences, etc. when I travel, often hesitant to take the advice of unconcerned concierges who might be "incentivized" to recommend certain establishments. The Duque staff made amazing, local, non-touristy recommendations at every opportunity, never once missing the mark.

SPACE:
- well-appointed and stylish throughout the hotel. A tasteful mix of modern/comfortable/clean/progressive design.
- smart usage of space maximizes the rooms' size (we stayed in 2 different rooms, one suite and one basic, both fantastic)
- Super comfortable beds with top notch linens
- high quality toiletries
- elegant courtyard
- elegant first floor Lounge and Bar/Dining area

FACILITIES:
- GREAT little spa for such a small space. Well decorated and aesthetically pleasing. Sizeable jacuzzi, sauna and showers.
- excellent little pool/pool area (though it was winter when we were just there, so no one was using it). cute landscaping.

FEATURES:
- Excellent morning breakfast with local pastries, meats, fruits, etc. includes eggs made to your preference
- complimentary 24 hour coffee machine which produces a variety of coffee drinks to your preference (coffee, espresso, cafe Americano, etc.)
- delicious tarts, pies and fruit were available throughout the day, beyond just breakfast.

LOCATION:
- Palermo is gigantic, and "Palermo Soho" is big, but we left convinced the Duque Hotel was the perfect locale: within blocks of multiple Tripadvisor, Lonely Planet, etc. recommended restaurants, shops, wine stores, an artisanal grocery across the street (where the stellar cheeses, meats, olives, wines and fresh baked bread that would've cost us $75 for around $19 <US>), etc.
- QUIET at night! Though one block South of one of the main traffic arteries of B.A., but easily far enough to where none of the traffic can be heard. When we left at 4:30am to catch a taxi to the airport, we noticed a jazz club on our same block with patrons hanging outside, but we never heard ANY jazz or any other music the whole time we were there.

VALUE:
- We paid $120/US for a GREAT little room with a Queen sized bed and all of the aforementioned characteristics, benefits and quality. As we rode to the airport for our flight back to the States, we agreed it was a BARGAIN considering all of the extras we got.

ADVICE:
- this isn't a knock, but rather a fyi: the Duque works with a taxi service and will pick you up from or take you to the EZEIZA international airport for $50/US. This is quite a bit more expensive than it costs if you just get a cab for yourself or if you have the Duque call you a cab just before you leave and tell them to go to the airport. $50/US was worth the initial trip from the airport to the hotel b/c B.A. was unfamiliar territory, but we saved money by not arranging transfers through the Duque after, but rather having them just call a random cab. This applies for trips to/from both EZEIZA and the Jorge Newberry national airport

My wife and I firmly believe that the Duque Hotel and its staff played a significant role in our falling in love with Buenos Aires. Their staff made us feel at home, took care of us and were genuinely invested in our happiness and perception of their hometown.

Thanks Natasha, Barbara, Eva, Nahuel, Roberto and the whole staff at the Duques! You guys were amazing! We miss your smiles and hope to see you all again sometime!

Room Tip: Book as early as possible!!!

We stayed at the Duque for four nights. The staff was over the top helpful in making reservations, accommodating numerous requests, and even finding an alternate hotel when we needed to extend our stay! The place is spotless, the rooms are nicely sized (albeit a bit noisy in the front on Saturday night!), safety conscious and has an excellent breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

We had the opportunity to stay here on 2 separate occasions in August. While other parts of our trip were not so great (lost luggage, canceled flights, food poisoning, etc), one of the bright spots was the Duque Hotel. The rooms were very clean, the staff was extremely courteous, friendly, spoke English, and went out of their way to assist us in numerous ways. They acted as translators at the pharmacy, helped with getting our luggage back as well as storing it for us, and always greeted us with smiles and friendly "hellos". It was very obvious that everyone here takes great pride in their hotel and shows genuine care in all aspects of maintaining it. The breakfasts were wonderful. If you need a small hotel that will take care of you, the Duque Hotel is the place.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights on our arrival in BA and 2 nights before our return to France. The staff are - without exception - friendly, helpful and speak good English. The hotel is modern, comfortable, and very clean. The breakfast is really good. They organised for us to be met at the airport for our return stay, and to go to a tango show.

Don't hesitate to stay here; you won't regret it.
