We chose this place because of Trip Advisor reviews as well as the proximity to our hotel in Recoleta. We had empanadas to start which were fantastic and seemed to be the specialty of the house as some locals were there and just ordered the empanadas. There was only one other table of tourists the night we were there but this may increase as the word gets out. We enjoyed menu items that we hadn't seem in the other restaurants that we chose. Very friendly service for two non-spanish speaking customers. Our server was great and she quizzed us on English terminology. This was after she taught me the proper pronunciation of dolce de leche.

A great find on our last day. We went early (8pm) and the place was quiet. Locals started to trickle in about 9...families, young couples, older couples...all mixed for a nice atmosphere.

This was the best service we experienced in BA...welcoming and friendly. The restaurant has a thorough English menu that shows its ready to cater for all...carnivores, veggies and a lot of gluten free dishes.

Empanadas are tasty and fresh..a nice start. Try the 'pastel de papa' for something kin to shepherds pie.

The house dessert - 'torta querencia' is definitely a sweet tooth delight to share.
We washed it down with the 'copa paterno' as recommended in a previous review.

Shame we only found this our last day. Definitely one to try if you are in or around Recoleta.

If you are not looking for high qualified chefs or for luxury restaurants, and you don't mind being in a noisy and somewhat crowded little room, but your objective is to have a great supper and to share a moment with friends or family, in a truly Argentinean environment, this is your place. Enjoy some of the best carbonadas, locros, humitas and tamales in town, for a very reasonable price. Ask for an empanada or two as a starter (prefer the meat or the humita ones, which are more local). Drink the homely "vino patero" (wine made with the feet), a slightly sweet wine, excellent and cheap, which you can't buy at the market. Recommended: get there before 9 PM, for afterwards it's difficult to find a table. Try to get one of the tables near the wall, with fixed benches (if you make a reservation, this places are called "reservados"). The room is nicely decorated with northern Argentinean motives and the girls who wait are very kind and efficient. Once and for all: ARGENTINEAN FOOD IS NOT ONLY THE MEAT, it's mostly this kind of meals. And this is a place for locals, not for gringos... Enjoy it!

Went here for dinner our last night in BA and we were so disappointed we hadnt come across it before! The food was wonderful, from the bread brought to the table, to the entrees and dessert. The restaurant specializes in regional food so lots of empanadas (which they prided themselves on), stews (the carbonada was heavenly!), meats, and a healthy dose of dessert! The restaurant was full of locals and filled up early on a Friday night so make reservations on the weekend. Dinner for two with a bottle of wine, 2 entrees, desserts and tea came to around $50 canadian which we thought was quite reasonable. We've had more expensive dinners in BA where the food hasn't measured up so we were very happy with this place. They even bottled up the rest of the wine for us when we couldn't finish and we enjoyed the rest at home. Very thoughtful! :)

This restaurant had a nice vibe, wait staff were really pleasant and helpful (not always the case in BA) and the food was hearty. We thought it was good value with lots of choice. I had a lentil and ham casserole which was very tasty.
