Impeccable place to stay for a couple of nights in Buenos Aires. Very good welcome. Attentive staff, particularly at breakfast - which in itself was the best spread I've seen in two weeks in the country (though this is not saying that much; who else in the world just wants stodgy buns and cakes for breakfast?). Immaculate room - very high quality fittings - though a bit gloomy, fairly small window on to the backs of neighbouring blocks which, in BA, are no adverts for urban planning and maintenance.
You can feel the quality in everything but no soul. There is nothing of the élan of the city. And all that piped music - at breakfast, by the pool, following you around - if it's there to create a mood then the mood is irritation.
It's a very good hotel but does quality and efficiency have to be at the expense of character?

Second time I stay here for a week - business related. Rooms are clean, service impeccable and reasonably priced. Staff super friendly and the breakfast very european. On top of that in one of the most amazing streets of BA, and walking distance from main attractions like Teatro Colon and Puerto Madero. Just a pity there is a slight smell in the main lobby.

Room Tip: Avoid street side for noise and try to be higher than 3rd floor, otherwise you hear the subway.

Travelling on business one wants reliability and quality of service and this Novotel in BA certainly exceeded my expectations - wifi that worked consistently, room service who were happy to fit in with my hours, good front desk staff, and a better than expected in house restaurant. I was not there to sight see, but the location seemed central enough for strolling around, and there were always cabs available.

This property is just 2 blocks from the Obelisco. On Avenida Corrientes. Close enough to walk to all major attractions and it is where all the theatres are. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Accor hotels has improved a lot in the last few years and Novotel is a name can be trusted.

A couple of hints for people that are planning to visit Buenos Aires.

1 - don't bother to change too much pesos. With the economic situation. Everyone wants foreign currencies. Most if not all independent retailers are happy to take your US dollars, Euro and Real. The rate they give you is even better than the standard bank rate. We got one US dollar to 5.50 pesos instead of 4.50.

2 - be careful. Pick pockets are everywhere. Two years ago I has my camera stolen in San Telmo. This time I left a restaurant, two minutes later my bag was opened and I lost my camera and mobile phone.
