“Very comfortable”
Reviewed May 20, 2012 via mobile

We actually stayed at this hotel in Feb. of 2011. Our check-in was quite fast. Our room was simple yet nice. The appearance of the hotel from the outside was so so. Once inside it was modern looking. The buffet breakfast was very American style.

The staff was polite and curtius. We did ask for room service, we ordered sandwiches. Nothing fancy and it was expensive! The jet tub in our room was working, but expelled some kind of seaweed looking flakes.

Our overall experience was a pleasant one.

.... if you're arriving later at night. We booked via wotif.com, our trusted internet accommodation site, about a month in advance. Everything was confirmed and paid for before we left NZ. After a 12-hour flight we arrived around 10pm at Hotel Reconquista Luxor, to be informed that our booking did not exist in their system. In short, they advertise good prices on wotif, to later sell your room at full price and send you to their other Hotel down the road. We met a Brazilian man on the same night who had the same experience. If you're looking for a stress-free experience in Buenos Aires, do NOT book this hotel. It took them 2 hours to get it 'sorted', and we ended up in the other hotel.... big scam!!

The hotel has a very small reception area, we needed to wait in the area a few times for pick ups taxis etc and there is only 3 seats! If other people are also waiting it is very uncomfortable. That apart the hotel was fine, it had free wi fi and computers that guests can use free of charge, I liked that. Quick speedy lifts to darkened corridors that light up after the sensors detect movement! The view from the rooms reminded me of New York. High buildings looking down on very busy streets. Breakfast is served on the second floor in a small restaurant with the usual assortment of bread and fruits available in South America.
From the hotel it is an interesting walk to various parts of Historical Buenos Aires, the underground which has a station just near the hotel is also cheap and very efficient for getting around what is a very busy city.
Almost all tourists to Buenos Aires spend a night at a Tango Show of which there are quite a few to pick from. In fact there is no escaping the Tango dancers as you are likely to come across them in any part of the city in which tourists are attracted.

We arrived several hours before check in time and the hotel staff had a room ready for us. It was a quiet comfy room. During our entire stay (5 nights) we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, the nice buffet breakfast and the hotel services. The location is great just few blocks from 28 de Julio avenue and Corrientes avenue.
Many Restaurants and Cafes around.
Overall it is a clean, safe and friendly hotel.
Buenos Aires is a great city.

Room Tip: Just a quick note avoid rooms on the second floor choose the higher floors, otherwise you will feel...

Hotel is located just a few steps from Avenida de 9 Julio and very close to the main shopping streets Ave. Florida et al) as well as Restaurants. Rooms are very small, Restaurant does not really exist but all in all, if you want to be central and not spend a furtune it's quite ok. We used it after our arrival in Argentina and were satisfied. Quite busy with local tourists.

I booked this hotel specifically for the location. I arrived at around 10am after a long flight holding my receipt and booking reference as I had paid in advance, only to be told I couldn't check in until 3pm.
After aimlessly wandering the streets for 5 hours I returned at 3pm to be told my booking had been changed to their sister hotel, the Reconquista garden, 4 blocks away, not the area I wanted to stay in.
I got the feeling that this was a regular occurrence and they use this hotel as bait and then switch guests to their other hotel.
