“Embarrassing, que verguenza!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

We wanted to give visiting Australian friends a good overview of the interesting parts of BA. As residents of Buenos Aires ourselves we could not have been more embarrassed!!
Getting the tickets was already difficult been sent from one place to another til finally we could get them at the 3rd place having missed the bus. The website tells you that you could purchase tickets on board this was not the case. The head phones or the connections were not working so you went up and down stairs trying to get new ones and try new seats for connection. Once connected with no help or sympathy for on board staff, you could hardly hear the commentary (the maximum volume extremely low), what little there was. The commentary missed significant buildings places of interest and historic events that related to the areas of the trip. I understand that there are traffic restrictions in BA but the commentary could have pointed out that from different stops you could access x, y or z.
We got off and hired a taxi for the day for the same cost and followed the bus rout map and did not miss anything, had we stayed on the bus it would have taken 4 hours mostly stack in traffic because of its size.

“Not worth it”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

We thought this would be a good way to get a sense of a lot of the city, but it was a disappointment. The whole journey takes nearly 4 hours, most of which is spent sitting at stop lights and in traffic jams. The narration, in multiple languages, is not easy to hear. It is recorded, and played by a rather bored "guide" who spent most of her time talking on her cell phone. Consequently, the narration was often a bit before or after the actual sight being described--often sufficiently so that you couldn't actually see the monument or building. I think there are better ways to see this city.

“Don't waste your time!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Seriously, I am normally a fan of Hop on Hop. Off busses, but this one is one to miss. The whole circuit takes 3hrs 15min (if you don't get stuck in rush our traffic).
Most of the headphones are broken, or the connection on the seats are not working- I ended up with grabbing 2 headphones at a time, and if I was lucky one was working.
The problem is that the tour is to slow, and once you get off, and on again your day is gone and the attractions are closed.
Pick out a few things work seeing (Plaza Major, Cementerio de la Recoleta, Evita Peron museum, Teatro Colon) and go there by underground (subte).
It is worth taking a jumper, as it will be freezing on the upper deck (wind) despite the sunshine!

“Avoid”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

The only part of this tour that I can recall, is the horrendous audio music. The same few bars of music are played over and over and over and OVER again..in between AND throughout the commentary. The commentary itself is pretty appalling, so the background music only adds to the awful experience. I removed my headphones multiple times, so it was more like a long bus trip through BA traffic. Luckily it was a sunny day and we were on the top deck, so the tan obtained was the only plus side to this tour. I dread to imagine the alternative. The whole experience was frankly quite frustrating. I would recommend COMPLETE avoidance at all costs. The horrendous music still resonates in my ears!

“Poor organization, technology and customer service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Buenos Airies is a huge city, and the sights are spread over a large area. A hop on hop off bus tour seemed a great way to see a bunch of things and get some historical commentary. After buying the tickets for the 10:20 bus...the 10:20 bus did not appear. We waited in line in the broiling sun for 40 minutes for a bus to show up. The BA bus employee was very casual and said, the bus is late, so what? Maybe another 10-15 minutes. A bus did show up, but it was the 11:30 bus and so we could not get on that one, and it parked a few yards down the road and the driver got out for a smoke and some R&R while we waited for the 10:20 bus. When we finally had enough we asked for a refund, but that was refused. We could sell our tickets to someone else on the street, but no money back just because the tour we purchased did not materialize. Once on the bus, the head phone jack system proved to be pathetic. My english version turned into German with some regularity, which actually didn't matter because the patter about buildings and architects was terminally boring, and very hard to understand even in my mother tongue. There is a schedule of stops and a map, but as it turns out, there is not much similarity to what the bus actually does and when the stops are made - we were already 40 minutes late, what was another 35 minutes? By stop 13 we were so under impressed that we got off and never hopped back on. That would have been way more masochistic than we had courage for.
