“Great small hotel in a good location”
Reviewed July 4, 2011

We chose Howard Johnson Boutique hotel from Trip Advisor reviews and value for money. We pre-arranged for them to provide a driver to meet us at the airport. Our flight was 3 hours late arriving but the car was waiting for us, late at night.
Our room was comfortable with above average space and an excellent shower. On the ground floor is a spa, sauna, gym and showers and wi-fi is free, as are computers in the foyer. There is comfortable seating also in the spa/gym area which was a nice warm spot to sit to escape the zero temperatures outside. Breakfast in a small airy dining room was excellent – continental, freshly squeezed orange juice plus scrambled eggs on request. The reception staff speak good English and it was no fuss for them to arrange taxis. Our departure flight was delayed due to the Chile volcano eruption and the staff were very helpful by extending our checkout.

Make sure you go to the pink presidential place where Eva Peron ruled, but it is only open on Sundays. The famous Recoleta cemetery is nearby with all its decadence – 4,800 mausoleums which will contain a small city population of 50,000 souls when full.

We could not fault this cosy little hotel in its quiet location. We are surprisd by their 3 star assessment - thj\is definitely a 4 star hotel

We had a wonderful experience during our 9 day stay at this small and quaint hotel. The room was good size, clean and comfortable including the bathroom. The breakfast was simple but good. A perfect start for the day. It is located in a safe and quiet residential area in a great location. We walked everywhere. There are very good restaurants at walking distance. But what really made this experience wonderful was the excellent customer service from the staff, specially the front desk. A special thanks to Monica and Adriano for their friendly advice and valuable recommendations (including the empanadas at Cala's).

I had an excellent stay at HJ Boutique Recoleta. The staff were extremely helpful in all areas and very welcoming. Advice at the front desk was always useful.

The location was a perfect base to see BA.

The rooms were spacious and very clean. There were not negative points to note about this hotel.

Thank you for an excellent stay.

Stayed a few nights at this Hojo both before and after a cruise to Antarctica in January and February 2011 and can certainly recommend it. I can't see any aspect of a "normal" Hojo in this hotel which is a small boutique hotel, located in the leafy and pretty safe Recoleta area of the city. There is no pool but there is a small hot tub. There's also a small bar area and a nice breakfast area behind the lobby. They also have a couple of computer stations in the lobby which are free for use.

We arrived into BA with little to no expectations - we were blown away! the staff at this hotel could not be more helpful in planning our stay in this amazing city! The restaurants that were booked by this hotel were always amazing & the general recommendations from this hotel never disappointed us. The location is by far the best in BA, its upmarket, safe! Will definitely stay here again.

Don't be fooled by the stereotpye - this is not like the old U.S. Howard Johnsons. This hotel is sleek and nice, the rooms, while not large, are quite comfortable. The breakfast is basic American-style (not continental) and good. There are two computers with internet access in the lobby. in terms of geography, about a 10 minute walk from a nice shopping district with some nice cafes and restaurants. The hotel is on a side street so there is not a lot of traffic or noise at all, but on the flip side, this is not in the center of BA. It is definitely a cab-ride away from the main sites of BA, but not expensive - $10-15 including tip. The domestic airport is close (~20 minutes)

The main reason for staying at this hotel is the staff. There were 2-3 different people at the main desk, but they were all excellent in terms of giving us tips, making reservations, calling cabs, and giving us directions. It was December when we went so we wanted to walk a lot, and the staff was patient and friendly each time we asked for directions. There was no wait, either (get the impression it wasn't busy) so that was nice. Since we are not fluent Spanish speakers, this was also helpful.

The only thing to keep in mind - the side street the hotel is on is not as well known by cab drivers, and there is another street of the same name in BA, so either remember your map or give the driver the nearest big intersection to drop you off at (there's one a block away). After the first ride we figured that out and it was not a problem afterwards.

Overall, excellent for the price, we would definitely stay again.

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for 6 nights last week. It's located at a great spot, especially if you like to walk around the city.

The bedroom is huge, with an Emperor Size bed and - our favorite - a nice Jacuzzi. Breakfast was very good: plenty of different kinds of fruits, pastries, bread, juice, you name it!

Service was great: whenever we needed reservations they would call the restaurants for us and sort everything out.

The only downside was that a building was being built right next to the hotel while we were there, so it was a bit noisy from 8am on. It sounds as if the construction workers are right next door to you. But if you wake up before 8am either way, this surely won't bother you!
