“Below expectations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

Our experience at Astrid y Gaston in Buenos Aires was below expectations. To start, we had a booking at 8pm and when we arrived on time, there was a work meeting taking place and we were only seated 30min later and in the meantime, no sorry, no drinks, no nothing...

Then the menu came, different from what was in the website... Still with good choices. We chose seafood dishes and without a long wait, everything came to the table. The causua of langostinos I had as a starter and my lasagna of seafood, both had a bit too much salt.it was not bad, but would have been better with half the salt.

Not sure I would recommend going there.. Other restaurants in Buenos Aires like Crizia, can beat in service and quality of seafood. Plus, we've been to several Gaston Acurio's restaurants and definitely this wasn't the best or on top of the list...

“Mixed feelings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

We had high expectations for this place, based on comments and press. The food was really outstanding, magnificent cebiche (they like to spell it like this!), and great main courses. Desert was rather dull. The downside was the service. The waiters were nice, but inefficient, the service overall is not what is expected of a restaurant of this kind. We had to ask for our drinks many times. It lacks the details.

“One of the best ceviches”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

I went with friends and we decided to order a bunch of dishes and share so we could taste. The ceviche dishes were great, one of the best I've had. The main courses were a bit Japanisie and nothing out of the ordinary and to rave about.

“very nice ambiance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

We had a lovely evening with my husband. We ordered 7 course degustation dinner, which was paired with wines. We were seated in the courtyard, which was very romantic and only had tables for two (about 5), I suggest if the weather is nice to ask to be placed there when making reservations. Courtyard has beautiful setting - dim lights, plants, very romantic. We had excellent time but the food at times is not 5 star. There were positions which I absolutely loved, but were some just weirdly combined, and not to our liking. Presentation is very nice at all times. Credit card accepted, tip in cash.

“A bit disappointing...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

Astrid y Gaston was suggested by local friends. And it started well. The atmosphere is nice and the music was very good. We ordered ceviche for starter. It was great. But then came the main dishes and they were disappointing. The desert, on the house, was equally boring. And the service isn't quite what you would expect either. Everything demanded long waiting.
