We stayed for 3 nights here in late November 2012. This is a wonderful hotel: classy, but friendly. All the staff members spoke wonderful english, and helped us get the most from our stay. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The "courtyard" is great place to relax, or have breakfast. The room was nicely decorated with some period furniture, but with a totally modern bathroom. The breakfast, included in the room rate, included a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, coffee, yoghurt, juice, fruit, toast and preserves.
If you arrive by taxi, it is not immediately obvious that you have arrived at the hotel, which does not have any major signs in front. Look for the street number, carefully. You cannot miss the beautiful double wooden door, however.
The hotel is in a quiet area, just a few minutes walk to the Castro Barras subway (Subte) station. On the subway, it takes only minutes to arrive at the Ave de Mayo, Plaza de Mayo and Florida street areas, where you can take in the sights. There are several local restaurants in the area near the hotel, serving traditional BBQ food or even Pizzas. Violetas is a classy, "must-visit" place for a coffee.
When we return to BA, we will definately stay at the Raco again.More
