This is a beautiful hotel, tucked away in a charming converted mansion with gorgeous rooms and lots of character. The breakfast is served to you individually each morning (it is not self-service), and the staff on the front desk are lovely and very eager to help. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. Highly recommended.

My only complaint is that the location is in a residential area, further away from the "action" in Buenos Aires than I had realised. It's about a 15 minute taxi ride to central Buenos Aires, or a 5-10 minute walk to the subway station and then another 15 minutes or so on the train. It's a great neighbourhood if you prefer peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but not ideal if you want to enjoy the vibrancy of Buenos Aires on your doorstep.

But overall this is a really lovely place

Management response:Responded July 11, 2012

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. We are glad to know you enjoyed your stay. This was indeed a lovely comment!

We would like to take this opportunity and add more information for our future guests:
The Hotel is strategically located in the geographical center of the city as a great starting point to all neighborhoods and main sights. An antique house, built in 1904, Racó de Buenos Aires is nestled in a calm and safe residential area, situated only 3 blocks from the metro and a 15 min taxi ride to any of the interesting spots.
You may find restaurants, bars, and a large commercial area in the surroundings, the Basilica of San Carlos Borromeo, as well as parks, fairs, and access to several bus lines.

It is a fact that you do need to take a bus or the subway to get to certain areas around the city, as mentioned previously. However, on the other hand, our guests get to enjoy different advantages of our neighborhood, such as tranquility and safety, which you won’t find in several other districts.

This is a fantastic hotel in a very convenient and quiet location. Staff was incredible helpful all the time and really very nice and well decorated rooms as the rest of the hotel. This is not the classical hotel, It's like being at home when traveling to Buenos Aires. I strongly recommend it.

Though this is a cozy hotel and the staff is very welcoming and sweet, the hotel is not very private. If you haven't been inside an old home the experience could be nice, but in my case it felt like being in my grandmother's home with a bit of a modern twist (bathroom). The bedroom had nice decoration, was painted blue and lots of character with the artwork. No window, which was a cheaper option, so a little dark.
What makes this place really special is the staff and the "homey" feeling.

Room Tip: Get a room with a window!

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your review, we appreciate the time and effort you put into it.

We would like to let our guests know a little bit more about the hotel’s architecture.

The mansion where Racó de Buenos Aires was born, was built in 1904, and has been selected as part of the city’s heritage. We have worked hard to maintain the original structure of the house, while at the same time, giving it the modern twist it needed; just enough to fuse the antique with the contemporary.
The old wooden doors, high ceilings, original floors, and transom windows you may find in each room, are what makes this hotel special. The design and decoration is different in every room, in order to satisfy all of our guests’ preferences. Quality matresses, chic bathrooms, air conditioned/heated areas, and a very peaceful good night sleep, is what ensures comfort and tranquility at our hotel. Racó de Buenos Aires, being a family-run hotel, guarantees your privacy and safety.
You may also choose between a room which faces the street, or one in a more secluded area. Either way, we will try to make sure you have a pleasant stay, providing you with all the help and recommendations we are able to, as well as equipping your room with everything you require.

Stayed here January of 2011. The most friendly staff and owner ever. Beautifully decorated rooms. Wine tasting downstairs. Wish I could give it more stars.
