CARLETTO, BUENOS AIRES, FABULOUS FOOD AND SERVICE
We recently returned from a month long trip to South America. Our 1st week was spent in beautiful Buenos Aires. We stayed at the beautiful Hilton in Puerto Modero. The hotel was wonderful and we were pretty happy with the food at several of the great steakhouses in Buenos Aires. On our 4th night we decided that our cholesterol levels had probably gone off the charts with all the great steaks we had eaten and decided to try something besides beef. Only a short block from our hotel was an Italian Restaurant called Carletto, we decided to give it a try because it was close to the hotel. We asked for a table for 2 but the restaurant was packed and they had no tables. I asked in my best Spanish how long the wait would be, immediately the owner/manager came over and in pretty good English he apologized for the inconvenience and told us the best he could do without a reservation would be about a 20 minute wait. Being a past restaurant owner (retired) I said no need to apologize we would walk around and look in some shops and be back in 20 minutes. True to his word the table was ready in exactly 20 minutes, a short wait for the best meal we experienced in South America. The food was fabulous, the service was perfect, the wine list spectacular and the prices reasonable. We spent 3 more nights in Buenos Aires before boarding our cruise ship and ate at this restaurant every night. If you are in Buenos Aires, the Hilton in Puerto Modero is the place to stay and although the steaks are great everywhere don't pass up Carletto for an unforgettable dining experience.
