This was hands down the best steak I had in Buenos Aires. The restaurant itself is lovely. The staff was helpful. But go for the steak.

A very traditional place in the Palermo neighborhood (two blocks from the US embassy) to eat grilled meat (Other dishes are available, of course). Orders are large, the service is very good, with "professional" waitstaff as opposed to fancy and young girls who do not know the business. The place is big, tables are well separated from each other, and there are private rooms for larger parties.

Over the years we have been to various steak restaurants in Buenos Aires and this seemed always one of the best kept secrets. On our last visit the quality seems to have gone downhill.
The portions are still large but the prices are hefty (100 to 140 pesos for the good cuts) and the beef quality is not of a high standard. My sirloin (Bife de Chorizo) was not very tender and even though I asked for medium-rare it was definitely just medium. The Bife de Lomo was better but the Asado was again pretty tough to get through.

Service was ok although I am not keen that my waiter is checking how I eat my food.

Located only blocks from the US embassy, in Palermo Nuevo, Rio Alba has been here, for many years, serving your typical, Argentine menu, with everything from pasta to parrilla, to the embassy staff and neighborhood clientele. White tablecloths and crystal, for lunch and dinner, with a very professional waitstaff, you will feel well taken care of, always, in Rio Alba. Nothing special but consistently good. Credit cards accepted. No outdoor seating. Nice wines available. Not cheap but portions are huge!!

This is one of those beautiful parilla you come across in Buenos Aires that hasn't been found out by the expats. You have the old men remembering orders and huge (I mean huge!) cuts of meat perfectly cooked. It seems to be a bit more of a family place - so better a little earlier. My only complaint would be that the lighting was too bright (but I am picky about that!)
