We visited Rio Alba with friends and their relatives. They used to come here for many many years, and admitted that the place lost its appeal. The mixed parilla was simply overcooked and average, both in quality and quantity. Meat was nothing special, even those specialities that made this a "must go" place in Palermo. The place, anyway, was full. Service was careless. Overpriced, too: this seems to be a common problem in Buenos Aires, were prices have doubled in 5-6 years. Won't return, next time.

We ate here on a previous trip to BA and returned this visit. It is a neighborhood restaurant that appears to have been there a long time. We were still on US eating time and were hungry - we walked up at 7:50 pm (10 minutes before they opened) and they saw us, opened the door and welcomed us in. We were the only diners for 30 minutes or more.

The service is good - the staff appears to have been there a long time. We had the Beef Tenderloin (lomo) and were able to get it rare to medium rare (huegoso spelling?).

big menu with big flavors
excellent meats
wines are pricy
comfortable traditional series of rooms with dining on the streetold school waiter with great attitude but weak language skills
where the upper class local dine casually
not cheap but the value is there if you don't over order

Rio Alba is a Fodor's recommendation, and we are generally happy with their picks, but this one was a dud. The food was really nothing special, our waiter was highly impatient, and there's not much atmosphere at all. With all of the good restaurants in BA, we wouldn't recommend this one.

This is a very goos restaurant. The meet is fantastic, souple. Good wine. Oil sufficient oil for salad. Good service. The price are little high but this is normal i think. More people go in this restaurant, the evening is complete. I think this is a very good adress for very good quality.
