“Really nice family style restaurant, Non-Touristy!”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

We dined at Le Famiglie for a late lunch with an Argentine friend. When he picked us up for lunch he asked where did we want to go? We said, wherever you would go for lunch and not a touristy restaurant. Well, this is where our friend took us. There were four in our party so we started with a good but not pricey Malbec wine. Two of us had beef dishes, one pasta and one fish. All were good, generous portions, we had no complaints. The restaurant has a "homey" feel, most of the patrons locals. We felt the service to be better than we experienced in other places, maybe because our friend was Argentine and he obviously ate there before? Anyway, we left pleased, our stomachs full of good food and an inexpensive lunch at that. Our bill was approximately $60.00, which included 2 bottles of Malbec, 4 dinners and 1 dessert. The very BEST part, they make their own Limoncello and the waiter brought out a round of cold Lemoncillo for us to top off our meal! And it was DELICIOUS, literally, the best Limoncello I've ever had. Try out this restaurant, I don't think you will walk away disappointed if you are looking for a basic, good meal. One more thing, they make a wonderful Pan Dulce Artesanal which they sell packaged "to go". It was sitting on a table by the front door, we bought one on a whim on the way out and had it for breakfast the next 2 days - it was delicious!

“Food heaven”
Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

A classic option, familiar vibe, good service, immense portions, some dishes are delicious, like their spinach/potato gnocchi with beef stew or the sweetbread marinated in spring onion. Another one of those places in Buenos Aires that will make you feel right at home.

“I had such a high hope”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

The restaurant looks like an institution that has survived the test of time. We had such a high hope for this place. It is not situated in a touristy place and it is filled with Argentinians. Service was excellent, atmosphere delightful but it is a restaurant and I have to review the food after all. We ordered half a bottle of Malbec which was reasonable. But we did not order the most expensive ones and hence I cam not blame them for that. We then ordered half an order of Frito Misto. We visit Italy at least once a year and in San Francisco, we do have EXCELLENT Italian and Sicilian restaurants. Before the order, the young man from the bar came to us and asked in English if we need any explanation of the menu. I speak enough Spanish but his helpfulness really touched us. Food came fast probably because we were the first two customers. The portion was very generous. My husband said, "Oh it has your favorite, the small fish". I took one bite and realized it will be disaster. It was not fresh. The fishy smell was overwhelming. Everything was so batter heavy and fishy that it was difficult to keep food inside. The calamari was so chewy that after a while it felt like an eternal chewing rubber, muscles had no taste, shrimps were dry and the common theme was "NOT FRESH". On top of that it was so greasy that they had to put two layers of napkins under the food. Never had any Frito Misto this bad. By then we decided not to order any cooked food in this place. We told the waiter that we will split a Beet and Carrot salad. He laughed but brought it to our table. Beet was from a can and the carrots were like cardboard. We traveled almost three weeks all over Argentina and I have never been to a country where fruit and vegetables look so pathetically bad. These vegetables that are for sale for human consumption actually belong to a compost pile and this salad completed the story of Argentinian cuisine outside grilled meat.
