I was in the mood for German food and decided to give Edelweiss a try. Although I was a little let down with the selection (no sauerbraten, red cabbage or spaetzle) the food was excellent and the ambiance fit the name.
I had the roast pork with a sweet fruit glaze, pineapple and plums (carre tiernizado al horno con anana y ciruelas) which was wonderful. Likewise, the sauerkraut (chukrut) and apple puree (pure de manzanas) were both delicious. Other German entrees included pork chops, various cuts of pork and sausages. Although billed as German restaurant, they have many more typical Argentinian choices than German choices, including meat, fowl and fish. My total came to 62 pesos for the above items and a bottle of water, a little less than US$20 at today's exchange rate, not including the tip.
If you are near the obelisk on 9 de Julio you are near Edelweiss. From the main shopping street La Florida take Corrientes or Lavalle and cross 9 de Julio, go one block to Libertad and it is at 431. From Corrientes turn right, from Lavalle turn left.
