“Awesome location, very nice place! We recommend!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed in hostal de granados for a hole week. It was such a nice experience!
The place was very nice, our bedroom (we got a private one) was really good, we had a balcony with a great view of the streets of San Telmo, a little fridge, a table for coffee, etc. Also, they have cleaning services everyday.
For breakfast you get a coffee or a hot chocolate, two medialunas (croissants) and a piece of chocolate cake. Everything was always tasting good :)
The location was perfect, much safer than downtown, for an example. On sundays they have san telmo's fair that is one of the coolest things to do in buenos aires and it is very very very near to the hostal, we could even see it from our balcony, also there was a lot of very good restaurants and bars at night. We loved it!
The staff is also very cool, everyone was always willing to help. We got some nice tips of what to do, how to get in some places, etc.
The bathroom and the kitchen was shared but everything was always very clean.
The prices were good, specially compared to other hostels in the neighborhood.
We loved and we recommend to others!

We didn't book it online but walked in after a 1st night bad experience in another hostel. I always trust first impressions, and honestly Mayra, the hostel owner was very welcoming, funny and friendly. She gave us many tips and advices during our stay in Buenos Aires.
Dormitories are really nice. We slept in a 5 bed dormitory with air conditioning on the second floor, and we were lucky, as no one else occupied that room for the 3 nights. Dorms are spacious, no bunk beds in ours, big lockers with hostel key, shelves, mini fridge and comfy beds.
Big kitchen with all appliances; outdoors and indoors common areas; wifi works well and they also have 2 computers for customers.
The only negtive thing was the breakfast, really poor, just a coffee and a couple of mini croissants...
Hostel was quiet, not a party one, but we still met nice people to chat with. And even there is a bar right next to the hostel, we slept well and didn't hear the noise.
Rest of the staff were ok, not as helpful as Mayra, but still nice. Lastly location was perfect! Right in the heart of San Telmo, close to bars, restaurants, shops, local buses and walking distance to minicentro (and in a safety area of san telmo).
I would definatelly recommend travellers to stay here.

Room Tip: Get one with air conditioning on the top floors

Breakfast included! There is a nice patio and laundry service. free internet, a kitchen. There are lots of nice bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. It is still rather basic, but very friendly and helpful. Clean and not too expensive.

We had a double room at this hostel which was in itself was actually okay; decent size with fridge, wardobe, table and chair. However, the room was very dark, there were no towels provided, and the pillows were wafer thin. We were unfortunately in the room above a bar which was very loud and went on until after 7am. Even with earplugs, we struggled to get some sleep.

The shared bathrooms were completely inadequate; there were too few showers for the number of people using them and there were often filthy and messy. There was no soap to wash your hands, nothing to dry your hands on and often no toilet paper.

The kitchen was a disgrace - rancid and smelly with very few cooking utensils. You had to pay a AR$20 deposit to get plates and cutlery, although there were no bowls and no spoons. Breakfast was a depressing affair that consisted of prison rations from the reception desk - two of the driest medialunas with a token for the nasty coffee machine.

The location was central, right in the middle of San Telmo but this also meant it was very noisy, and quite dirty outside.
