The location of this hotel is very good, and on a few occasions, I had very good help from the staff, including the ability to remain in my room until 7PM on the checkout day. But that is the best I can say. The rooms varied from spacious to cramped and some did not even offer any windows.

The beds were terrible, as others have stated, very old and not supportive at all. The rooms on the street side were subject to all sorts of street noise - garbage trucks emptying the dumpsters which were located across from the front door (about 30 feet), and worse, some person who enjoyed revving his motorcycle engine at around 5 or 6AM.

The breakfast is perfect for those with a sweet tooth - while fruit was available, the majority of items were pastries, cakes, etc. with yogurt the main protein offering.

The other item that folks need to be aware of is that there seems to be no truly "safe" area in BA - we spent a good number of days traveling the city and it is filled with graffiti (everywhere) and just a block from the hotel one of our party was mugged - in full light and with ample witnesses. This is not a fault of the hotel, but we did not feel safe in this neighborhood.

Room Tip: Courtyard facing rooms are quieter but bear in mind that on the upper floors, the courtyard ceiling...

A few steps from Obelisc -heart of Buenos Aires- near of everything.
This is an old fashioned but remodeled hotel, wekk located only 3 blocks from Catedral Station Subway.
The rooms are comfortables
At the lobby you can find a petit restaurant too, but the menú is limitated.
Hope you have a good trip to BA.

This hotel has a good location and good staff. The rooms there isn't carpet (good), but are loud and the bed is terrible! When we stayed in this hotel in the Saturday night there was a party in the hotel till 5:00 in the morning - we couldn't sleep 1 minute because the really noisy music! The breakfast is terrible, poor - it's a poison.

The location is very good, just one block away from the Obelisc in downtown, from where you can start exploring the city. They have free wireless connection (so I reccommend you to take your own notebook with you as I did).
Everything thing is clean in the hotel and the staff is kind.

Excellent location. Near to Subte (as is know the underground or tube). You go to anywhere easily. You're a one and half block the 9th July Avenue, on which you find a Carrefour Supermarket two or three blocks on left. It's near Diagonal Norte Avenue too, that takes you to Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada. By foot, you reach Florida Street and Lavale Street, the best for shopping. The Reception is very kind and efficient and helps you whenever you need it.
The towels are not changed as frequently as its have to do so. I have to asked dry towels for a maid.
The tables at breakfast room are very dangerous. They have a one column and the base (foot) don't have weight enough to give stability to a table.
After sunset doesn't advisable walk alone by street, call a taxi if you need.

Hotel D'artiste is called a "boutique hotel," whatever that means. My tour group stayed here for two nights, and the leader said that they wouldn't do it again

The small lobby and common areas are adorned with murals on the walls, which, presumably reflect the entertainment clientele who once stayed there.

Our room was very small, as was the attached bathroom. There was almost no place to put our things. When we checked in, the safe didn't work, and a lamp was out. These were promply fixed when we reported them. Additionally, the toilet kept getting stopped up (presumably from something the previous occupants had flushed down). After an unsuccessful attempt to fix it with a plunger, a maintenance man came with a snake, and, after working at it for some time, managed to fix the problem,

The room was noisy, but the bed and pillows were very comfortable, the lighting was good and the towels were big and soft. The air-conditiioner/heater had only two settings: on and off.

There was a combination tub/shower, but the tub had no faucet or stopper, and there was no safety rail. Our towels were not changed, even though one of them had obvious dirt on it.

  • Liked — Comfortable bed, good lighting
  • Disliked — Small rooms, no towel change
