Certificate of Excellence

Casa Calma was a wonderful retreat right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown BA close to many places of interest to tourists and the port area. Our Superior King room was very spacious. We liked the modern design and open concept and especially one of the most comfortable beds, pillows, etc. usually only found at five star hotels. While other guests seemed pleasant enough and from a variety of countries, having only two rooms per floor really did add to a sense of privacy.

We found the staff very welcoming, attentive, and accommodating. The included breakfast offerings were well above average...fresh breads, juices, etc. all exceptional. Although the eating area could be a bit crowded, food supplies were always plentiful.

With only two rooms per floor, you're guaranteed virtual privacy in this extremely comfortable, ideally located hotel. The rooms have more than everything you need, from the CD player to the flat-screen plasma TV to the in-room Jacuzzi and sauna to the daily news headlines in your language slipped under your door and the daily weather forecast. The staff is warm and helpful, and the breakfast was more than adequate. A great place to collapse at the end of a busy day exploring B.A.

Yes, this hotel is very well appointed and even uses creative interior design techniques to create a nature setting (by using flowing window gardens) to help the guests forget they are in the middle of a huge metropolis. Add very sound proof windows, great beds with down comforters, modern design, nice floors and great finishes and you get my approval. Yet there was something else:

The difference is the staff and general manager. I used their hotel as my resting stop after the all day travel from the US and it was the only hotel I actually booked on what was a two week journey through Uruguay. When they saw me struggling to attain any info I could about where to go and stay they kicked into what I could only refer to as a "super travel agent" mode. They went on line to check availability, made reservations and hooked me up with hidden gem bed and breakfasts. And yes, they speak perfect English which helped with my pathetic Spanish.

This is a true five star experience and I am no softie, you should read the punishment I put on the supposed five star Conrad Hilton in Punta del Este - ouch! If this hotel is not booked, consider yourself lucky, and jump on it.

We stayed in Casa Calma at the end of our trip in Argentina, after having passed through Buenos Aires for a few days at the beginning of our trip in another hotel. With that in mind, Casa Calma was a great place to stay. The rooms were large and clean. The windows managed to keep a lot of the noise of Buenos Aires out so we slept very well. Wifi was very good. Breakfast was very nice, with lots of options including eggs made to measure. Most notably, the service was excellent - the staff were pleasant, available, kind, and very helpful. When I come back to Buenos Aires, this is the place I'd stay in again!!

The location is excellent. Seeing the hotel from the outside, it sounds small, but it surprises inside. We arrived early (check in was at 15h, but went forth to our room at 11am!). Thus, a person of the staff sat down with us to explain in detail all the options the city's tourist and suggestions of several restaurants (by theme) and tango. It totally exceeded our expectations. What drew the most attention at this hotel, besides the ecological theme/welfare, was the attention to details: we received our language newspaper in the morning, weather, Nespresso capsules, Wifi with good quality, lots of pillows, delicious mattress, powerful dryer and shower, bike included, etc..

Room Tip: Choose the Superior Room if it´s possible/ available

Very clean, comfortable and contemporary rooms. Large comfy beds. Rooms come with a spa bath and separate shower. A calming environment in this busy city.

Staff were fantastic and very friendly - they were happy to organise a day trip to Uraguay on the ferry for us, even getting us a discount. Nice breakfast with lots of choice, which is free to eat in your room also.

The hotel is right in the centre of the tourist area of BA (close to Calle Florida shopping) and about 45 mins from the international airport (expect to pay $130 - $150 pesos for the taxi trip).

Bottled water in the room was expensive and overall the room rates were perhaps a bit expensive too, but in return you get exceptionally high levels of personal attention from the staff in this boutique hotel.

we had a superior room which was the summum of comfort and beauty.
I loved the place and enjoyed very much being handled by professional and competent young women

Room Tip: choose the superior room, on the 4th floor, away from the street....
