Owner description: Buenos Aires Free Tour offers two DIFFERENT tours per day. One in the morning and the other one during the afternoon. Local guides show you the city that never sleeps, with their stories and secrets. We also offer private tours which is a great way to see the city if you have limited time and are unable to join their regular group. For the free Buenos Aires tours you have to show up at the meeting points, no booking required: -11 AM PLAZA DEL CONGRESO (Rivadavia Ave and Rodriguez Pena St) -3.30 PM at PLAZA SAN MARTIN (Santa Fe Ave and Maipu St, beside the horse monument). Both tours are different!

My wife and I visited BA for the first time and choose the BA Free Tour based on Tripadvisor reviews. The tour did not disappoint. We met our guide Virginia, at the Plaza del Congreso after a short ride on the metro. As a BA native, she was fluent in English and was very knowledgeable in the city's history, landmarks we visited, and culture.
The tour was a reasonable time (about 2.5 hours) and distance for most people of all ages and fitness levels, however, for very young children I'd recommend a stroller.
Since the tour guides only work for tips, please be generous and consider that the fee-based tours charge anywhere from $50 - $100 per person. Even at US$30 per person, the tour is still a great deal.

After the attempts by taxi drivers to divert us from the free BA walking tour (they wanted us to book tours with them, of course), we were glad we stuck to our guns and ambled alongside Gaston to see some highlights of BA on foot. Best bang for the buck in BA (no fee, just a tip)!

This was a very fun tour. I did both the morning and evening tours and enjoyed them both. Good tour guides and a nice pace. Note that the groups are pretty large (I'd guess 20 or so on each tour) so obviously it's more for the masses.
Given it's donation only, it's well worth it.

This tour gave us a great introduction to Buenos Aires, its architecture, history and culture. Gaston was a charming and entertaining tour guide, mixing up stories, anecdotes and humour to good effect. This tour is not intended to be exhaustive so if you are looking for a highly detailed overview of Buenos Aires (a very big city) choose something else. But if you want a nice 3-hour stroll around some of the city’s main sights and some not-so-well-known places in between, this is a great option. Most participants tipped Gaston at the end (as you would expect – after all, good service should be rewarded).

My husband and I are here in BsAs and even after a private city tour in a van, we decided to do this walking tour. Are we ever glad we did....because it was excellent!! Sol was our guide and over three hours, we saw and learned so much about the city, the country, its history, its politics, etc. She is passionate, articulate, funny and engages the group. She guided us along a very manageable if fast-paced walking tour. I was aware of the "operating on tips" basis, and agree with other reviewers: We WANTED to pay since it was that good. Don't miss it!.
