Hotel Babel is an intimate boutique hotel at a great price in Buenos Aires. The best part of the hotel is the staff. They speak english and are supremely helpful. They printed out our boarding passes, got us directions, recommended resturants and day trips. The rooms are not large but sufficient. The breakfast that is included is great! Fresh pastries, fruit, juices and eggs made to order. The location is good there is a lot going on in San Telmo.

I hope I have the right address. We were at the Babel in San Telmo, Balcarce 946, [--], a great neighborhood. The hotel is small and intimate, you get to know your neighbors, and the staff can guide you to local great restaurants as well as jazz clubs, markets, of course tango, and more. They are up for guiding you to what ever your interest may be and you can find it all in Buenos Aires.

Have fun!

We just spent a week at Hotel Babel in Buenos Aires, located in the arts district of San Telmo. Everyone working there is a Star! You can ask for almost the impossible and the staff will provide it for you. They arranged airport pick-up for us - we forgot to make arrangements and sent an e-mail from Mendoza late in the evening....we were greeted at the airport. My wife broke her left foot just before our trip. The staff moved us from an upstairs room to a downstairs room as soon as one became available. We were invited to a wonderful wine tasting at the hotel. Breakfast is a breakfast far and they will fix your eggs anyway you like them. The Staff makes the difference. Service like this is very difficult to find. They are totally concerned about your pleasure, happiness, security and satisfaction. I will most definitely stay at Hotel Babel on my next Argentine trip again and will book early enough to make sure I get a room there again.

Hotel Babel is not an ordinary hotel. Although it is small, its layout is open and spactious. It maintians a quaint and comfortable feel throughout. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service. We were provided with information describing activities that were taking place in the area throughout our stay. The lobby of the hotel is very stylish with great music, louge area, books, magazines, tourist info, and a good selection of drinks. The rooms are cozy with original wood doors. There is also a relaxing and serene courtyard area. Breakfast was great and included cold items (ham, cheese, croissants) as well as items to order (eggs, omelettes). I cannot say enough about the service of the staff. Someone is there at all times and willing to help give information or advice on activities. And don't worry if your spanish is lacking, as their english skills are very good. The staff is small so if you stay awhile, you will be able to meet everyone and they will all remember you and treat you as if you are a guest in their home. Overall that is the best way to describe the atmosphere at Hotel Babel. A home away from home.

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Babel and enjoyed the hip atmosphere, substantial buffet breakfast, well-sized rooms and bathrooms, and excellent service the entire stay! The Hotel staff are young, intelligent and play great music in the lobby. They helped arrange pick-up at the airport, tickets to a futbol game, ferry tickets to Colonia, Uruguay, and provided us with great dinner and attraction recommendations.

The rooms are perfectly sized, not too big or small, and the bathroom was large with good water pressure. The room comes with regular bathroom amenities. The breakfast included coffee, juice, toast, cereals, fruit, and eggs or waffles can be ordered separately. The Hotel has a free computer with internet and also has Wi-Fi throughout.

The lobby of the hotel is cozy, with a small dining are and small sitting with books and Buenos Aires guides. The front desk also serves as a full bar.

The Hotel staff respond quickly to emails and were able to answer all of my questions prior to arrival.

San Telmo is a great neighborhood with a distinct style and the Hotel is only about a 10 minute walk from the Subte to visit sites in farther away Recoleta or Palermo.

We were looking for a simple, boutique style hotel and the Babel is precisely that. More to the point, however, was the fantastic welcome and attention we got from the day we arrived til our departure four days later. We were on a special promotion which included transfers from Ezeiza airport to the hotel and an evening's entertainment consisting of a tango lesson (men outnumbered by approximately 4 to 1!), dinner and tango show with transport from and back to the hotel. The young staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful whilst at the same time maintaining the very best professional standards, with all of them speaking impeccable English. By the end of our stay we felt Juan, Mateo, Augustina and the rest of the staff had become our friends. Argentina is not by British standards an expensive country to visit but the value provided by the Babel was exceptional.

Hotel Babel is in a great location, right in the heart of San Telmo; a particularly good spot if you are in BA on a Sunday when San Telmo turns into a huge street market, with bands, drums and dancers round every corner. The staff were friendly and helpful with tips for good places to eat in the area and there was always some cool music playing in the background. Breakfast in Babel was the best breakfast we had throughout our 3 week trip in S.America, with yoghurt drinks, fruit, croissants, eggs and the divine dulche de leche! The only downside is most of the rooms don't have a window with any natural light coming in, but this is a minor point as most people don't come to BA to spend time in a hotel room!
