“Nice food, service bad and location not so great”
Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

We went to this restaurant to eat something else then steaks. The place is located in a dismal area with a lot of police around, busy street so not inviting to eat outside. Inside the decor looks outdated and the tables were covered with plastic tablecloths... Especially with the warmt, the plastic is not really attractive.

The food was nice, not stunning. Prices are pretty steep so if you keep that in mind, we would have expected a better experience. The service was really uninterested; all the staff was either playing with their smartphones or yawning at the bar. No real atmosphere of a relaxed evening out, more a feeling of boredom. That really let the place down! We would skip it next time we are here, there are tons of restaurants around that will give you a nicer evening!

“Great Flavor”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Ate at Green Bamboo on one of my last nights in Buenos Aires. Located in Palermo, the decor and atmosphere is super trendy, but very relaxing as well. We ordered quite a few different things to try and they were all delicious. The service was awesome too, they knew a ton about the food and were very personable and actually smiling! They had quite a few different wines and beers, but we took advantage of their really awesome mixed drink menu. The only downside was that this place was extremely expensive and the serving sides were very small. However it makes a great place to even just sit down for a drink on their patio. Overall, wonderful experience!

“Very Good (for Buenos Aires) but VERY overpriced”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

I like this place. The longer I stay in Buenos Aires the more I like it. It is difficult if not impossible to find spicy Thai food outside of Barrio Chino or in fringe locations where you feel comfortable sitting down in a chair much less entering the place. But the longer I stay in BA the more expensive this place is.
If you come from a city with thai food (or spicy asian food for that matter) this place is comical to compare to what you have but this city does not do spicy food, much less Thai food what so ever (is that one word?).
Anyway, you have to save up or just be loaded (money or booze wise) not to have a small heart attack here once the bill comes.
Again, very good drinks and food but I feel I am paying a bit too much for variations of cole slaw, typical bar drinks and curry.
If you are here short term (lucky you) I would say avoid this place as you have it better wherever you are from. If you are stuck, I mean, have the opportunity to be here long term and have a need for Thai food, this is a very good place.

“Unexpected delight”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

I think it says a lot about a place (and maybe us?) that out of a 1-week stay in Buenos Aires, we ate three times at Green Bamboo!
It was a nice change from the parillas. We found the food, service and atmosphere extremely good. Was maybe a little pricy for Argentina, but compared to back home still pretty good.
Maybe don't spend half of your stay there, but if you want something a bit different to the standard Argentinian fare, do check it out.

“Trendy decor, pleasant service, food could be better”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

If you are looking to bump into a local celebrity you probably won´t be dissapointed. But if you want real good Vietnamese food you might feel a little let down. The dumplings were tough, my dish said "rice" on the menu, but no noticeable rice was in it. All in all, the cooking is not bad, but not great either. Servings are rather skimpy too, so if you are very hungry you are better off going to a parrilla for a good bife de chorizo. Anyway, service was courteous and helpful, the "mojitos" very good and the place is friendly with a glamorous touch about it. A bit pricey, tough.
