After so many continuous days of steak, I was looking forward to some fish and Japanese food. We toured the Japanese gardens and went to the restaurant in the back of the property. We eat a lot of Japanese food at home and so am very familiar with Japanese food and sushi/sashimi. We ordered 3 items: a plate of sushi, sashimi and roll, assorted tempura with salmon and shrimp, and shrimp yakisoba. The tempura was poor; tempura batter should be light and airy. The tempura they served was hard and really overlooked. Some pieces of vegetable were cut so thin they overcooked and other pieces (broccoli) were so large they didn't cook properly. The batter was too thick for tempura. I couldn't finish all the pieces as I didn't want to take a chance on damaging my teeth. The yakisoba was nicely prepared and presented. It had lots of shrimps and veggies but was too saucy. The sushi was quite good. The fish was fresh and the salmon was particularly good but it was expensive.

Fine service, fantastic view, you have to concentrate to think you are inside Buenos Aires.
a cat walks by the gardens, the ponds, the bonsais, the typical red japanese bridge. All adds.
A super tasty white pinot grillo to be served with tasteful makis, yahimeshi, sashimi with maracuya and tabasco sauce. you could end your meal and star all over again!!!

Great food, excellent atmosphere, marvellous surrounding, what else can you ask for while having lunch or dinner in BA? You can´t miss it if you are in the area.

Authentic Japanese food at the back of the beautiful Japanese Garden, an extraordinary space maintained by the Japanese community in Argentina. Sometimes it is necessary to book ahead, it is small and much in demand

After walking for hours around BA we paid to get into the Japanese Garden and decided to buy some water in the restaurant. The manager was very rude and dismissive and refused to serve us water. It may or may not be a legal right to get water when you ask for it in Buenos Aires (or Japan for that matter), but why be so rude about it? Don't bother with the restaurant, there is a water cooler in the admin office section of the garden. I would not recommend this restaurant as the prices are expensive, the quantity of food is very little, and we saw two tables getting angry about the length of time service took (even though the place was only 10% full, or 90% empty). If yu visit the garden, eat before, later but definitely elsewhere.
