This is a great hostel for anyone travelling on a semi-budget with a very cool roof-top bar. The staff are incredibly helpful and will help book you onto pretty much anything there is to in Argentina. The double rooms are small, basic but comfortable. It's also not too noisy which is a big bonus if you're a light sleeper like i am.

Room Tip: I was travelling with my husband and had a double ensuite. Even if i was single i'd probably boo...

This hostel is a huge place to meet very nice people.
The prices are average as of the ones in the area, but lower than the big hostels in the city.

I would definitely go back to this hostel. To me is basically about the service and the opportunity to meet other nice travellers. This place has them both,

Also they have a bar with a very nice open area. They have amaaaazing BBQ's for a good price and the private rooms as the one we stay at, were wide and comfortable. Maybe air conditioning would of be better for some. But for me it was perfect with the big fan as it makes the room ventilate and keeps a nice temperature.

Also a very safe hostel. Hot showers and good amount of toilets although my room had its own.

The only thing, is that the kitchen was a little small, so you would have to wait if more than 3 people are using it.

I recommend you basically for facilities, atmosphere and location.

happy roads and big hug to the staff

Pro's
- the art makes for a unique and interesting place to stay
- all the basic things are perfectly in order- clean, functioning, good facilities
- great staff
- good balance of being social without being overly so. People who stay here are from a variety of countries, backgrounds and age groups

Cons
- Location- i personally didn't like San telmo nearly as much as Palermo. There's not much happening around the hostel at night
- hot water was variable in some bathrooms- others were fine

had a lovely time in the art factory over xmas. the staff were so lovely and helpful, our room was a good size and cleaned daily. breakfast was good and location was perfect in san telmo district. it is quite pricey if you want your own private room but it was worth it over xmas and you felt completely safe and well looked after. i definitely recommend it!

I stayed here in September, and overall had a good experience. We had to switch rooms during our stay, and I ended up leaving an alarm clock in the room, when I went to ask if it had turned up in the room (less than a couple of hours) they haven't found anything. Asked a couple more times during my stay and it never turned up, kinda crappy because it's a shake a wake (alarm for the hearing impaired) it's hard to wake up when you can't hear the alarm!Should have been more careful but you kinda hope things like that will turn up. The staff was helpful though. The roof patio is pretty cool. I wouldn't pay extra for the room with a shower. I guess it was kinda loud but I can't hear at night so that stuff doesn't really bother me.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front with a balcony are cool, even though the face the street.

During our stay we stayed in both a double room and a dorm. One was located close to the outside sitting area, one to bar area. This said, most of the rooms are close to either on of the two which can make it quite noisy up to about 1AM, after which things settle down.
Staff was friendly, though a bit chaotic, and helped us booking tickets for busses and the ferry to Colonia (uruguay).
Toilets (upstairs) were tiny, it was quite a hassle to be able to sit down without bumping into the door. Showers were decent and clean enough.
Would recommend this place to whomever would like to stay up untill at least 1AM.

Stayed here in November 2011 and was really impressed. Im sure the lonely planet recommendation helps bring in the travellers but the recommendation is thoroughly deserved. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and there's a lot going on to welcome you into Buenos Aires. The Asado (bbq) was delicious, a nice range of meats and they also catered for my girlfiend's vegetarian tastes aswell with plenty salad and grilled cheese. There was a walking tour of BA sites when we were there aswell among loads of other things to do but there's also plenty of space for you to just chill out and be left alone if thats what you are looking for.

Overall state of the hostel is a bit rough and ready, probably more so than the pictures suggest but its definately clean enough and the decor and old building give the place a charm and character that you wont find in other hostels.

Im really glad we stayed here and definately recommend it highly for travellers and couples alike
