The highlights of this restaurant are the place, food and great service.
Inside a private Club (Club do Progreso), a large unconventional palace with excellent food and very good service. The specialties are the "asados" - (Argentine bbq); order the roast suckling pig or ribs and you will be happy.

All breads are home made. It´s impossible to resist.. they are delicious..

If you have time have a drink a the bar downstairs.

p.s.: waitresses say that the house is haunted :) I have been there twice and have to say that both experiences were just great.

The wine list is not extensive but very correct with great Argentine wines. Both times we have paid around $50.00 p/p.

Enjoy it!

Inside a private Club (Club do Progreso), a large unconventional place with excellent food and a reasonable good service. At the entrance in central and well known Sarmiento street - 2 blocks from Obelisk - some hesitation, a big classic old lobby and no trace of a restaurant. Just asking - restaurant please - you are piloted trough an old bar to a big courtyard full of table. Nice and professional waitress are helping you trough the menu leading to the famous `` Roast Suckling Pig`` the hit of the place. In my opinion the best small pig favorably comparable to the renown one you can find in Madrid, Spain. Secret ? - in my view very high temperature Owen and of course good quality suckling pig. Excellent! - A rich bread basket, a tasting portion of grilled mushrooms a bottle of Argentinian champagne completed my very good lunch, at medium price (US$85 for one person).

Our group of 8-10 fly-fishermen have made Club Del Progresso a must stop two years in a row. This has been a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend the Roast Suckling Pig. Absolutely delicious. Very well prepared. We dine out side in the garden area and have been welcome by the staff to enjoy watching them prepare our meal in the outdoor kitchen. The atmosphere is wonderful. The surrounding neighborhood is not the best but who cares. Once you step inside of this old elegant gentlemens club you are in a new world.
Great food, elegant dining, great wines, wonderful staff and beautiful ambience.
Highly recommend Club Del Progresso

My wife and I had dinner here. I had the pacu - a fish from the north of the country. It was delicious. Huge portion - Had to take half to go. My wife had the salmon. Again - large portion - took 1/2 with us to go. We shared a salad which was made tableside and was delicious. We had wine. The entire dinner was about $60US. Many locals were present. Most were ordering one of the beef entrees. We opted for the fish because he had had so much beef by that point, we wanted a change. The have a menu in English if necessary. Like most restaurants in BA, you must be ready to dine -- not eat and run. Although service was very good, things move along slowly. Its a dining experience. Don't be in a rush.
