This was my second stay. The interior, rooms, dining and staff are amazing. The standard rooms are very spacious, with huge bath space. They use your name, everywhere I went they used my name. Nice touch. It's very remote. When you are there, you are staying put. it's a 20 min drive to any nearby store, off-site dining etc. So, it's a good romantic getaway for a weekend. I highly reommend this property.

Room Tip: Something looking towards the back and mountains.

Luxury hotel, luxury service, luxury property. This property lives up to all the Ritz Carlton standards. My wife and I stayed at this property over the New Year's holiday and our visit was superb. From being greeted by name by the valet, to check-in, and every interaction we had with various staff members, the service was impeccable and we felt like royalty. We have stayed at many Tucson area resorts over the years and the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain is without a doubt the top resort in Southern Arizona, and perhaps all of Arizona. We stayed in a canyon view room and the scenery was beautiful. The room itself was in perfect condition and offered a relaxing, quiet environment. The pools are beautiful and are kept at a comfortable 86 degrees. Great job to the top notch management team and their staff! We look forward to visiting again!

Room Tip: Choose a canyon view room, it's worth the additional cost

We just returned from a wonderful stay at a 2 bedroom casita at Dove Mountain. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the master bedroom with a king bed - our adult children enjoyed the privacy of the second bedroom with 2 queen beds. We all enjoyed have a large living room to relax in at the end of a busy day! The exterior decor is western rustic and makes you feel like you are really getting away! The interiors are a sophisticated and comfortable rustic western style - understated yet elegant. All the spaces compliment the desert surroundings. The rooms are large - the bathrooms and closets luxurious. The staff was friendly and very well trained. The views are spectacular - from the pool, from the dining room, from the casita.

There are miles of trails of varying degrees of difficulty that leave right from the hotel. We especially enjoyed the challenge of the upper Javelina trail. We ate all all the venues at the property and especially enjoyed dinner at Core and lunch poolside at Turquesa. The food was creative, fresh and healthy. We also felt that the food was priced very fairly - especially for a high end hotel.

We have stayed at other Ritz Carlton properties - Dove Mountain surpasses them all.

Room Tip: Choose a casita - second floor - for privacy and more space

My husband and I are locals that frequent the Ritz in Tucson. The property is gorgeous and the service is impeccable. The property is nestled in a beautiful canyon and blends well into the desert landscape. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, large bathrooms with soaking tubs, TV's, and nice showers. The pool area is wonderful and there is a great splash pad area and waterslide for the kids as well as another pool which is typically for adults although it is not specified as adult only. The spa is lovely with a separate pool which is nice for an afternoon of pure serenity. Our only complaint about this property is the food at Core for dinner is average at best. It is very disappointing. On our first visit a few years ago we had a nice experience at dinner at Core, although it wasn't spectacular. They must have changed chefs because since then the food has just been average. The property is not close to many restaurants so it is a pain to drive off property to eat. So many Ritz Carlton properties have amazing restaurants (Laguna Niguel, Cancun, Denver, New Orleans) that is is a shame that this property does not measure up. Even the desserts are underwhelming. They are of course pretty to look at but lack flavor in general (we have tried several options). The breakfast at Core however is fantastic. They have a wonderful array of food, an egg/omelet station, fresh waffle station, fresh fruits, cheeses, hot foods, and fresh salsa. The property really needs to reconsider what is occurring at Core for dinner. We are heading back to the Ritz for New Year's Eve this year but have chosen to eat off property for dinner. Truly disappointing! The food at Turquesa which is their poolside grill is very good although the wait there is usually lengthy. The food at Ignite (lobby bar) has really varied on our visits. We were there for Father's Day weekend and the wait was incredibly long even after speaking with a manager. The sushi was good and the service was good at Ignite and they have great cocktails. All in all this property is wonderful….just hoping for a revamp of the dining at Core for dinner. We have also stayed in one of the casitas on property and we were impressed with the layout and design features. The flute player performs every evening at sunset and it is a beautiful, memorable time of day with fires lit around the property and beautiful music soaring through the canyon. If you are looking for a beautiful getaway this is the best place in Tucson by far!

Room Tip: Rooms on the canyon side provide great views.

Our second trip to Dove Mountain was even better than the first! We took our children and enjoyed a spacious casita (1100 sq ft) with 1.5 baths and 3 tvs-everyone was happy. We slept quite comfortably and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. The barn doors between the bedroom and the living areas provide privacy, if needed. One thing to keep in mind is that the casitas are a short walk to the main hotel. Pets are welcomed on the property and there were several dogs during our stay.

We enjoyed one of the best breakfast/brunches around in CORE; the food was delicious and abundant. My favorite part of the day! Actually, the food all around was quite good. We grabbed a few casual dinners at Ignite Bar/restaurant and my husband enjoyed the sushi (I thought it was just ok). Caytons Burgers are delicious and creative and the milkshakes are tremendous! I like that they have scaled back to just burgers (mostly). The sunset view over the golf course at Caytons is one of the best I've ever enjoyed. Try to go on a day with a few clouds. We did not try room service.

This year, we traveled during Christmas. There were so many things to keep us busy…or not. The kids enjoyed the movie nights and the fact that there was a video game room set up with xbox and wii. We went on a Jeep tour of the property (ask for Bob. He was knowledgeable and fun) and the kids were intrigued by the interactive and educational nature of the tour. The hotel offered a gingerbread house "class" for kids. The pastry chef offered tips while the kids glued candy on the pre-built houses (don't worry--the pastry chef wrapped them for travel and they were measured to fit in the overhead bins!) and the adults enjoyed complimentary champagne. Also, we enjoyed the s'mores one night after dinner. The huge, homemade marshmallows and smell of burning pine wood made for a memorable evening.

While the temperatures didn't warm up much past the mid-60's, we all enjoyed the heated, infinity pool each day. I sat poolside in shorts and a long-sleeved shirt, until the sun dipped behind the hotel; my kids liked the waterside, poolside hammock and the ping pong table. The kids area has a room with reptiles, scorpions and a tarantula that my kids liked getting to see. The ranger was insanely knowledgeable (and patient with all our questions).

Unless you've spent much time in the Sonoran dessert, you will probably find the view of the saguaro covered hills incredible! Also, make it a point to sit outside near the fire pits (or, in our most recent trip, the Christmas tree) and enjoying the haunting sound of the flautist who plays around 5:15 for 30 minutes. The melodies echo in the canyon behind the hotel and it's a wonderful time to just be still...

The service and attention to detail…well, it's ritz quality. I especially appreciated the toned down and more casual lodge feel of this hotel. The staff were all smiles, beyond competent and available, without being too fussy. We will likely make this a regular trip.

Room Tip: Casitas are spacious and very quiet.

We stayed over the Christmas holiday and were extremely impressed. The rooms and public areas are lovely. Almost all areas offered gorgeous views of the saguaro covered hills. The resort has an infinity pool with attentive service and a pool for the younger (or young at heart) crowd that, according to my 13 year old son, has a great slide. A hiking trail goes back into a canyon several miles, every morning there is a complementary hike where one can see a bit of the trail.
The Ritz-Carlton most impresses when it came to the small things. On Christmas morning they left us a stocking with candies, that evening with the turndown service, not only were we gifted with yummy chocolates but a dated ornament for a tree. When we wanted to watch a DVD a player was delivered to us within minutes and set-up for us as well.
While all the gifts were nice the area that we were most grateful for was the attentive, friendly and competent service. I must write that there wasn't one person we came into contact with that wasn't pleasant to deal with.
Dove Mountain is beautiful and off the beaten path. While we were there we loved being away from it all and would not hesitate returning and enjoying the peacefulness the are has to offer.

My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary here. Loved the layout of the room, helpful/ friendly/courteous staff, beautiful terrain overall relaxing stay. We took many day trips around Tucson and played a round of golf. I highly recommend dining at Core, one of the restaurants at the hotel. If your are craving delicious brick oven pizza, Vero Amore is close by.
